That was the most tense game I've watched all season, nailbiting right down to the very end (thanks, Jesus). In fact, the biggest WPA swing was not the Morse home run but rather Wilhelmsen's strikeout of Nix. If you count Gardner's two steals as one event, that would've come in second. Sadly, though, the strikeout video's not up yet, so you get a home run GIF instead. But everyone loves dingers, right?
The big shock of the night was Hector Noesi being not-terrible. The second big shock of the night was Dustin Ackley hitting a ball in the air to right field. Until tonight, 80% of Ackley's pulled balls in play were ground balls. That's insane, and also awful, and that's where his power went. Do this more, Dustin.
Questions!
1) On a scale on one to ten, how angry is Brendan Ryan?
2) On a scale of one to ten, how sad is Brendan Ryan?
3) If you were as angry and sad as Brendan Ryan, what would you do to make yourself happier?
Cheer up, Brendan! The Mariners are now in second place!
