A John Jaso Bulletin

John Jaso's smile is scientifically proven to teach children to be well-behaved and successful. If your child fails to respond as such it is because you are a bad parent.

John Jaso started today as the designated hitter. John Jaso reached base during the game. He does that quite often, having an on base percentage over .400. He did in more than once in fact, but what I wondered was, when was the last time John Jaso didn't reach base in a game he started?

July 8 was the last time, which is too bad because Jaso ended up with six opportunities to reach base against the Athletics over a 13-inning affair that the Mariners ultimately lost. That's a stretch now of 25 consecutive starts that Jaso has reached base at least once in.

But wait! That July 8 game was started by now known drug user and therefore loser Bartolo Colon, which means it is asterisked and no longer counts so says the great and powerful protectors of baseball, the media. So ignoring that game, Jaso's reached base streak actually tracks back another 17 starts all the way to May 28 in a game against the Rangers and Matt Harrison who is not yet a known cheater.

Either 25 or 42, either way the important bits are that John Jaso is awesome and that Bartolo Colon is a big poopy head.
