3/29: Open Game Thread

Say hello to our last Cactus League game of the year. The Mariners do play again tomorrow against the Dodgers, but that's just some meaningless exhibition. This one still counts.

Ryan, SS Fowler, CF

Smoak, 1B Gonzalez, LF
Cust, DH Tulowitzki, SS
Olivo, C Helton, 1B
Langerhans, CF Wigginton, 3B

Saunders, RF Iannetta, C
McOwen, LF Spilborghs, DH
Fister, SP Chacin, SP

Lots of days off today, as Eric Wedge no longer sees the point in trying with the Cactus League title unattainable. Luis Rodriguez is starting at third, and remember that he's on the roster unless the team makes a move between now and Thursday morning. Baker wrote that Chris Chambliss was his hitting coach last year in Charlotte, where Rodriguez had his big breakthrough, so that's an interesting angle. Also starting today is James McOwen, because why not.

Available to pitch behind Fister will be Aaron Laffey, Jamey Wright and David Pauley, which should make for some thrilling television. I say that because this game is on television! We've got 710, MLB.tv, and ROOT Sports all covering the action, and here's your Gameday link as well. You won't wanna miss this. Who knows when we might see Aaron Laffey and Jamey Wright in a game again? It could be days!
