So much for the Omar Minaya fantasy. Everybody remembers DiPoto for the Dan Haren/Joe Saunders trade, which wasn't good, but he also swung the Daniel Hudson/Edwin Jackson trade, which was good, and he has a very good reputation around the league. Let's not forget that, when Jon Daniels was younger, he got little in return for Adrian Gonzalez and Chris Young. DiPoto may not be a brilliant hire, but he's a smart one, and on the would-he-have-swung-the-Vernon-Wells-trade? scale, DiPoto's a firm no, so this is a step up for the Angels and a minor bummer for us.
