So as you've probably heard by now, Cliff Lee went on the Brock and Salk show earlier today and told the world that, while he and his agent were open to the idea of discussing a contract extension before the year, the Mariners were not, so nothing ever happened.
I don't have an angle, here. Rather than be furious, I'd just recommend you listen to Lee when he calls this a "non-story". The bottom line is that we have only a simplistic, limited idea of what was going on, and we don't know any of the little details that could sway us either way. Says Larry Stone:
It's hard to make a judgment on this without knowing all the facts, so I won't.
I implore you to follow in his footsteps. There's plenty of legitimate stuff to be mad about that we needn't jump on the front office for what may or may not have been the proper course of action. I love Cliff, too, but there could be any number of reasons why the organization did what it did.
