The Nationals Have Figured It Out

Starting for Washington today is some guy named Craig Stammen.

WASHINGTON -- The Nationals have dismissed Randy ["Busty" -ed.] St. Claire as pitching coach and replaced him with Steve McCatty, who had the same role with Triple-A Syracuse.

Under St. Claire, the Nationals' pitching staff ranked 30th, with a 5.69 ERA. Most of the problems came from the bullpen, which has blown 12 games.

Since 2004, the Nationals have had 46 individual seasons in which a starter threw at least 30 innings. 40 of those 46 seasons featured below-average tRAs. This is solely the fault of the coach.

John Patterson might want to lock his doors in preparation for when St. Claire reaches the angry stage.
