I don't know why this didn't really register with me that much at the time, but the more I look at it, the more I realize that there's a good amount of evidence out there that Cha Baek is at least as good, if not better, than Carlos Silva. Seriously. Pick your stat. Baek's not a great pitcher, but neither is Silva, and the fact that we gave one away for nothing while signing the other to a four-year contract is another one of those "Bavasi era in a nutshell" transaction pairs of which we already had enough. It's just staggeringly outrageous how bad the front office has been at talent evaluation. This franchise needs an analytical GM more than Red Ruff needs lessons in etiquette.
