I am not phoning in this wrap-up. In fact, for those not paying attention, I haven't phoned in any of these this weekend. I'll phone it in when the season's over.
Onward!
a: Vancouver 6, Everett 3
EVE: 33-40... VAN: 36-36
Keith Meyer: 5 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, walk, 6 K

Manelik Pimentel: 1-2, double, R (.269/.357/.398)
Jeff Dunbar: 3-4, 2 double, 3 RBI (.238/.335/.388)
I think the earned/unearned run stat rule is kinda dumb. Unless the run is a direct result of an error, as in an error that happened on the run scoring play, the pitcher should be credit with any runs he allows, regardless if the runner previously reached on an error.
But then again, that's hardly the only anomaly in baseball's statistical rules. Saves, anyone?
A: They played two in Appleton.
Game 1: Wisconsin 4, Kane County 3, 7 innings
Steven Richard: 4.2 IP, 2 H, (2 R) 0 ER, 6 walks, 4 K, wild pitch

Tied in the 7th and final frame, Cougar pitcher Sam Demel walked the bases loaded, and then walked in Calvin Beamon for the winning run.
Game 2: Kane County 13, Wisconsin 5, 7 innings
WIS: 31-39... KC: 39-31
Johnny DuRocher: 1 IP, 7 H, 7 ER (HR), 3 walks, K

The backup QB's pitching audition for the T-Rats went about as badly as you could expect. The sample size is small, but a performance like this makes my ignorant mind wonder if the org thinks twice about starting DuRocher in the MWL in 2008, perhaps opting to either stash him in the backup of the T-Rats bullpen in 2008 until Everett's season starts, or perhaps holding him out entirely until Everett's opener.
Also, another Joe White appearance makes me wonder for just a moment if the org's going to consider Sorianoing him and turning him into a reliever... only jokingly, of course.
A+: High Desert 6, Lancaster 4
Mavs: 23-46... Jethawks: 43-26
Cibney Bello: 5 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 3 walks, 6 K

Eddy Hernandez: 1-4, R, RBI, K (.189/.247/.294)
Jeff Dominguez: 1-3, double, RBI, K (.261/.311/.364)
Cibney Bello got outsucked for a change, that's what she said, and the Mavs managed to swipe one from the powerful Jethawks.

I know the Rainiers are low on SPs, but... Robert Harmon? THE Robert Harmon who was arguably the worst SP in the EVERETT rotation? You telling me there was absolutely no one better who warranted an informal audition with the Rainiers? I don't care if it's the end of the season and there's only 2 games left and it doesn't really matter... there had to be somebody better who deserved that chance. Quit trying when the season's over.
