8/7 Minor League Wrap-Up

The Mariners took it easy, and so did I.

On to the wrap-up!

Dominican:  The DSLM's had the day off.  They are in progress against the DSL Phillies (35-17).

Arizona:  Brewers 6, Mariners 5
AZLM's:  6-4... Brew Crew:  3-5

Sean White:  4 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 walks, 5 K, wild pitch, hit batter.
Richard Ortiz:  4 IP, 3 H, (4 R) 1 ER, walk, 3 K
Michael Renfree:  no outs recorded, 1 H, 2 walks (1 intentional)
Juan Fuentes:  2-5, double, 2 RBI, K
Mario Martinez:  2-4, R, 2 RBI
Alfredo Mateo:  1-5, RBI, 2 K

So I goofed yesterday in the Tacoma recap, accidentally referring to Rick White as Sean White.  Yes, that was Rick White who made his Tacoma debut in relief yesterday.  But anyway, Sean White is still in Peoria, putting in his work as he rehabs from Acute Rule 5 Suckitis.

Anyway, he gave up both his runs in his 4th and final inning of work, indicating his stamina needs work, and former starter Richard (Don't call him Dick, you dicks) Ortiz kicked off the 5th with 3 runs to make it 5-4 Brewers but settled down and worked through the 8th without trouble.

Meanwhile, Mario Martinez sac flied a runner in for the 2nd out of the 7th to tie the ballgame.  Sadly, Michael Renfree came on for the bottom 9th after Richard Ortiz walked the leadoff batter, allowed the runner to steal, allowed a bunt single, intentionally walked the next batter and unintentionally walked the next batter to force in the winning run.

a:  Everett 8, Tri City 6
EVE:  22-26... 3C:  19-29

Robert Harmon:  5.2 IP, 9 H, 4 ER, walk, K, wild pitch
Philip Roy:  one out, 1 H
Brandon McKerney:  1.1 IP, 3 H, 2 ER
Bryan Harris:  1.2 IP, 1 H, K
Ogui Diaz:  1-5, double, R, 2 K (.251/.276/.371)
James Davenport:  4-5, 2 doubles, R, 3 RBI, K
Craig Hurba:  2-4, solo HR, 2 R, K
Welington Dotel:  2-4, 2 run HR, K (.263/.302/.413)
Kalian Sams:  2-4, 2 R, K, SB (.212/.303/.371)
Roberto Mena:  subbed in at SS, RBI single (.200/.263/.229)

This rubber match had actually been completed before I started yesterday's wrap-up but to maintain consistency, I held off recapping it until now.

The Aquasox built a 6-0 lead through five, but had to withstand a 4 run rally in the 6th that chased Robert Harmon and 2 more runs in the 8th off Brandon McKerney.  Fortunately, they got a run in the bottom 6th and another in the bottom 8th to pad the lead and hold the Dustdevils off.

A:  Wisconsin 6, Beloit 1
WIS:  16-27... BEL:  25-18

Ricky Orta:  6.1 IP, 5 H, 1 ER (HR), walk, 6 K, wild pitch
Tom Ellis:  1 IP, 2 H, 2 walks, K
Joe Kantakevich:  1.2 IP, 2 K
Calvin Beamon:  1-4, double, 2 K (.240/.333/.312)
Ronald Garth:  1-3, solo HR, 2 R, walk, 2 K (.244/.320/.456)
Alex Liddi:  2-4, double, R, RBI, 2 K (.233/.302/.375)
Joe White:  1-3, R, RBI, 2 K (.321/.421/.472)
Gavin Dickey:  2-4, double, triple, R, 2 RBI (.209/.263/.357)
Leury Bonilla:  0-3, sac fly RBI, 3 K (.256/.280/.357)
James McOwen:  1-4, double (.272/.290/.312)

Hey, look, more offense from the T-Rats and ANOTHER good start from Ricky Orta!  What is happening in Appleton?

A+:  Rancho Cucamonga 6, High Desert 5, 12 innings
Mavs:  15-30... Quakes:  23-22

Cibney Bello:  6 IP, 7 H, 2 ER (HR), 7 K, 3 wild pitches
Steve Uhlmansiek:  no outs recorded, 3 H, 2 ER
Roman Martinez:  3 IP, 1 H, 4 K
Aaron Cotter:  2 IP, K
Aaron Jensen:  one out, 3 H, (2 R) 1 ER
Johan Limonta:  5-6, 2 R, K (.303/.375/.467)
Jeff Frazier:  3-6, double, R, RBI, K (.359/.410/.569)
Eddy Hernandez:  1-4, double, R, RBI, K (.190/.258/.322)
Jeff Dominguez:  1-5, RBI, K (.263/.315/.363)

Screw you guys for crapping away a winnable game.  You don't deserve a recap.

AA:  Carolina 4, West Tenn 2
WTN:  18-27... CAR:  22-23

Andrew Baldwin:  7 IP, 5 H, 4 ER (2 HR), 9 K, 2 hit batters
Juan Sandoval:  1 IP, 1 H, 2 K, wild pitch
Jesus Merchan:  1-4, RBI
Luis Valbuena:  1-3, RBI, walk
Rene Rivera:  2-4, double, R, K
rest of DIAMOND JAXX lineup:  3-24, R, 2 walks, 8 K

Vintage Phat Andy 29, as he strikes out bunches and gets groundouts, but gets tagged for a significant amount of runs anyway and loses.  The Mudcats had a 4-0 lead before the DIAMOND JAXX got two back on token 8th and 9th inning rallies.

AAA:  Nashville 6, Tacoma 3
TAC:  53-65... NSH:  71-46

Jon Huber:  two outs, 3 H, 5 ER (HR), 2 walks.  Well, that rehab start didn't go well.
Jorge Campillo:  6.1 IP, 4 H, 1 ER (HR), walk, 6 K
Jason Mackintosh:  2 IP, 1 H, 3 K
Nick Green:  2-5, R, K (.315/.354/.580)
Mike Morse:  2-4, double, R (.324/.389/.484)
Bryan LaHair:  1-3, R, 2 RBI, walk, 2 K (.272/.325/.406)
WLAD:  2-4 (.301/.373/.541)
Jeff Clement:  1-4, RBI, K (.258/.353/.478)

Jon Huber's rehab start was a colossal failure, as he was left out there long enough to give up 5 runs before mercifully getting lifted for actual SP Jorge Campillo with two outs in the first.  This game was over before the Rainiers stepped into the box.
