8/27 Minor League Wrap-Up

Not much to say as I have to get back to work, but J mentioned the AFL rosters, and as always, we ask you not read too much into AFL performances, as players are usually just there to try new things and get some work in.

On to the wrap-up!

Arizona:  Mariners 5, Athletics 2
AZLMs:  16-10... AZLAs:  12-14

Miguel Marquez:  2 IP, 2 H, walk, 5 K
Richard Ortiz:  1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 walks, 2 K
Robbie Dominguez:  3.2 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 walks, 2 K, wild pitch
Taylor Bills:  1.1 IP, 1 H, K
Travis Mortimore:  1 IP, walk
Luis Nuñez:  2-4, double, R (.261/.301/.342)
Brandon Fromm:  1-4, solo HR, K (.253/.312/.427)
Mario Martinez:  2-3, double, 2 R, 2 RBI (.281/.312/.354)
Anthony Phillips:  1-3, RBI (.291/.382/.299)

Easy win thanks to a well-plotted bullpen relay and 3 runs in the 8th.  Okay, maybe not easy.

a:  Everett 7, Salem-Keizer 3
EVE:  30-37... S-K:  51-16

Juan Carlos Ramirez:  6 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, walk, 4 K
Aaron Brown:  2 IP, 1 H, walk, 2 K
Ryan Moorer:  1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER (HR), hit batter
Jermaine Brock:  1-5, double, 2 K (.227/.296/.279)
Edilio Colina:  3-4, double, walk (.285/.335/.372)

Joe Dunigan:  3-4, solo HR, 3 R, 2 RBI, walk (.229/.283/.310)
Blake Ochoa:  1-3, RBI, K

UPSET CITY!  Any win against the Volcanoes is a huge upset these days.

A:  Wisconsin 6, Burlington 4
WIS:  26-36... BUR:  29-33

Tom Ellis:  3 IP, 6 H, 3 ER (HR), 3 K
Rollie Gibson:  2 IP, 2 walks, K
Joe Kantakevich:  2 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 2 walks
Andrew Barb:  2 IP, 3 H, walk, 2 K
Kuo Hui Lo:  2-4, double, R, 2 RBI (.284/.358/.421)
Ronald Garth:  1-4, double, R, RBI, K (.269/.339/.462)
Juan Beltran:  3-3, double, 2 run HR, 2 R (.234/.303/.298)

Tied at 4, Juan Beltran shocked us all with two outs and a man on in the top 9th and hit his first home run of the season, a two run bomb that was enough to give the T-Rats the lead for good.

A+:  The Mavs had Monday off.

AA:  West Tenn 5, Huntsville 3
WTN:  28-35... HUN:  35-28

Doug FISTER:  7 IP, 7 H, 1 ER (HR), 3 walks, 2 K

Juan Sandoval:  one out, 1 H, K
Mumba Rivera:  1 IP, 2 walks

Matt Tuiasosopo:  1-2, 2 R, RBI, walk, K (.266/.380/.405)
Erick Monzon:  2-4, 2 RBI, K (.224/.298/.372)

The DIAMOND JAXX built a 5-1 lead through the middle 8th, which was more than enough to hang on for the win.  The FIST got back on his game and weaved his way through seven strong innings.

AAA:  Tacoma 7, Las Vegas 6
TAC:  65-72... LVG:  62-75

Sean White:  6 IP, 5 H, (2 R) 1 ER, walk, 4 K

Juan Doñe:  one out, walk
Cesar Jimenez:  1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, walk, K
Nick Green:  2-5, solo HR, K (.328/.374/.598)
Jeremy Reed:  2-4, solo HR, 2 R, 2 K (.296/.352/.447)
Mike Morse:  2-4, solo HR, 2 RBI, K (.310/.370/.463)

Jeff Clement:  3-4, solo HR, 2 R, K (.271/.370/.501)
Charlton Jimerson:  2-4, double, 2 K (.357/.400/.571)

Ahhhhh Cashman Field.  A shitty ballpark for a shitty ballclub.  The desert air and the shallow walls make for lots of runs.  As you can see from the XBH totals, the Rainiers found this run environment a sweet change of pace from Cheney.
