8/26 Minor League Wrap-Up

This is gonna be another one of those quick, vague wrap-ups where anyone who has additional info is free to mention it.

On to the wrap-up!

Arizona:  Mariners 11, Cubs 4
AZLMs:  15-10... AZL Cubs:  10-15

Michael Renfree:  5 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, walk, 6 K
Carlos Javier:  2 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, K
Julio Santiago:  2 IP, 2 H, 6 K
Tyson Gillies:  1-3, triple, R (.231/.355/.321)
Daniel Carroll:  3-5, double, triple, R, 2 RBI (.332/.425/.435)
Brandon Fromm:  1-5, double, R, RBI, 2 K (.253/.313/.411)
Juan Fuentes:  2-4, 2 R, walk, SB (.333/.392/.419)
Mario Martinez:  4-5, double, 4 R, 2 RBI (.275/.303/.344)
Luis Nuñez:  1-4, double, 2 RBI, K (.255/.297/.331)
Maximo Mendez:  1-5, RBI, 2 K, SB #13 (.255/.376/.433)
Denny Almonte:  1-4, R, RBI, walk, 2 K (.160/.263/.240)

Walkover.  Also, like his fellow phenom Carlos Triunfel, Mario Martinez has overcome a slow start and is now picking up base hits with consistency.  The future is bright in the Mariners prospect pool, and new young talent is always on the way.

a:  Salem-Keizer 15, Everett 1
EVE:  29-37... S-K:  51-15

Edward Paredes:  5 IP, 7 H, (4 R) 2 ER, 2 K, 2 wild pitches
Brandon McKerney:  two outs, 4 H, 6 ER, walk, hit batter
Craig Deaver:  two outs, 5 H, 4 ER, K, wild pitch, hit batter
Mark Pettis:  1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 walks, wild pitch
Jermaine Brock:  2-3, walk (.228/.299/.275)
Blake Ochoa:  pinch double
Jeff Dunbar:  2-3, solo HR, walk (.211/.317/.346)

Yeah, that could have gone a lot better.

A:  Wisconsin 7, Burlington 0
WIS:  25-36... BUR:  29-32

Tony Butler:  CG SHUTOUT, 4 H, 2 walks, 8 K
Calvin Beamon:  1-4, 2 RBI (.247/.332/.321)
Leury Bonilla:  2-5, R, RBI, K (.259/.288/.364)
Joe White:  3-5, RBI, K (.305/.407/.415)
Kuo Hui Lo:  1-5, double, R, K (.281/.356/.417)
Guy Welsh:  2-5, double, 2 R, RBI.  T-Rats debut after 79 ABs in Peoria (.228/.319/.253).
James McOwen:  2-4, 2 doubles, R, RBI (.276/.300/.331)
Juan Diaz:  2-3, double, 2 R, walk (.237/.297/.301)

Thanks to KC for the heads up on Tony Butler's performance last night.  Redemption came to the embattled hurler last night as he threw a four hit CG shutout.  Back in April, this guy and his bad wing struggled just to find the plate without getting destroyed.  Like Chris Tillman, Tony Butler has found his groove in the second half, and once again, the future's looking bright in the Mariners org.

A+:  Modesto 3, High Desert 2
Mavs:  21-42... Euphemism for Man Oysters:  39-24

Marwin Vega:  7 IP, 8 H, (3 R) 1 ER, walk, 5 K, hit batter
Aaron Jensen:  1 IP, 2 K
Carlos Triunfel:  2-4, R (.294/.343/.353)
Jesus Guzman:  1-4, RBI (.290/.364/.517)
Johan Limonta:  1-3, RBI, walk (.297/.365/.460)

The Nuts built an early lead and a 2 run rally in the 6th was all the Mavs had to counter.  The Mavs fortunately get a day off from the continued carnage that is their season before starting a series in Adelanto with Rancho Cucamonga, whose name is a lot more fun to say than their team is to play.

AA:  Oh lord, they played two in Huntsville.

Game 1:  West Tenn 2, Huntsville 1, 7 innings

Travis Chick:  5 IP, 2 H, (1 R) 0 ER, walk, 3 K
Brodie Downs:  2 IP, 3 H, 2 K, hit batter
Jeff Frazier:  1-2, R, RBI
Luis Valbuena:  1-3, double, K
Luis Oliveros:  2-3, 2 doubles, RBI, K

Game 2:  Huntsville 4, West Tenn 0, 7 innings
WTN:  27-35... HUN:  35-27

Chris Jakubauskas:  4 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 walks, 3 K
Michael Hrynio:  1 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, walk, K, wild pitch
Craig James:  1 IP, 1 H
Michael Wilson:  1-3, double, K
Erick Monzon:  1-3, double

Nothing is still more than i have to say about this.  Gotta jet.

AAA:  Portland 5, Tacoma 3
TAC:  64-72... POR:  56-80

Robert Rohrbaugh:  6 IP, 6 H, 2 ER (HR), 4 walks, 4 K
The Aircraft Carrier:  1 IP, 2 H, 3 ER, walk, K, hit batter (AAA ERA:  12.96)
Justin Lehr:  2 IP, 2 H, walk
Nick Green:  3-5, RBI (.327/.374/.591)
Jeremy Reed:  2-5, double, R, K (.295/.351/.441)
Bryan LaHair:  3-4 (.276/.330/.427)
WLAD:  1-4, RBI, K (.295/.367/.525)
Charlton Jimerson:  2-4, double, solo HR, K (.346/.393/.558)

Robert Rohrbaugh's luck ran out and my time has run out.  Let's just say that the Aircraft Carrier is not quite ready for AAA yet.
