8/21 Minor League Wrap-Up

I am BACK.  This wrap-up was written during my lunch hour.  This wrap-up is guaranteed free of any mention of bodily functions!

On to the wrap-up!

Dominican:  They played two on the island!

Game 1:  AthleticsUno 9, Mariners 5

Henry Perez:  1 IP, 4 H, (5 R) 4 ER, 2 walks, 2 K, wild pitch
Felix Bautista:  4 IP, 4 H, (4 R) 0 ER, walk, 4 K
Miguel Celestino:  2 IP, K
Hector Mercedes:  2-4, solo HR, 2 R (.282/.371/.410)
Augusto Marte:  2-3, RBI (.242/.370/.348)
rest of DSLMs lineup:  1-22, 3 R, 2 walks, 10 K

NEEEEEEEEEEXT

Game 2:  AthleticsUno 3, Mariners 2, 8 innings
DSLMs:  34-28... DSLA1s:  40-22

Juan Franco:  4 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2 walks, 5 K, balk, hit batter
Nelson Germocen:  2 IP, 2 H, walk, 2 K
Ariel Alcantara:  2 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, walk, 2 K
George Soto:  1-4, double, 2 RBI (.260/.325/.389)
Rudy van Heydoorn:  2-3, R (.206/.303/.333)
McyQuin Lora:  2-3, double, R (.159/.274/.207)

Closer, but still no cigar.  The A1's got their go-ahead run in the 8th, and the DSLMs failed to respond before the game was called.

Arizona:  Mariners 5, Padres 0
AZLMs:  11-10... AZL Padres:  8-13

Michael Renfree:  5 IP, 4 H, 2 K, hit batter
Richard Ortiz:  2 IP, 1 H, walk, K, wild pitch
Carlos Javier:  1 IP
Eddy Fernandez:  1 IP, 1 H, wild pitch
Daniel Carroll:  2-5, R, RBI, 2 K, 2 SB (.324/.420/.398)
Brandon Fromm:  3-4, solo HR (.246/.313/.400)
Mario Martinez:  2-4, R (.257/.285/.327)
Jonathan Arias:  2-4, R (.178/.345/.222)
Tyson Gillies:  2-4, double, R, RBI, K (.215/.338/.277)

The rookie ballers of our hated rivals got six hit and the AZLMs cruised.

a:  Everett 2, Spokane 1
EVE:  26-35... SPO:  29-31

Edward Paredes:  7 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 3 walks, 6 K, wild pitch
Ryan Moorer:  1 IP, 1 H
Bryan Harris:  1 IP, 1 H, wild pitch
Edilio Colina:  1-4, RBI, K (.273/.327/.367)
Kalian Sams:  1-3, double, K (.216/.310/.385)
Welington Dotel:  1-3, double, RBI, 2 K (.261/.301/.400)

The Aquasox broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom 7th when Derek Holland, who had struck out 10 Aquasox, took a seat, and reliever Tommy Hunter got an out before surrendering a lined single to Joe Dunigan and back to back doubles to Kalian Sams and Beef Roids to plate what proved to be the winning run.

A:  Wisconsin 5, Peoria 4, 10 innings
WIS:  23-33... PEO:  31-26

Tony Butler:  7.1 IP, 6 H, 3 ER (HR), 2 walks, 3 K
Justin Souza:  1.2 IP, 3 H, 1 ER
Michael Wagner:  1 IP, walk, K
Ronald Garth:  1-3, sac fly RBI (.272/.342/.478)
Kuo Hui Lo:  1-4, double, 2 R, walk, SB #26 (.281/.356/.410)
Alex Liddi:  2-5, 2 RBI, K (.237/.307/.385)
Leury Bonilla:  2-3, double, 2 R, walk (.261/.288/.366)

Justin Souza gagged up the lead with one out in the top 9th, but the T-Rats got the duke anyway in the bottom 10th when Kuo Hui Lo led off with a double and Alex Liddi immediately knocked him in with a single to win it.  Liddi has turned into an A ball capable performer this 2nd half.

A+:  High Desert 8, Inland Empire 2
Mavs:  20-38... Empire:  27-31

Marwin Vega:  COMPLETE GAME, 6 H, 2 ER (HR), 2 walks, 2 K
Casey Craig:  2-4, R, walk (.325/.413/.492)
Adam Moore:  2-3, double, 2 R, walk (.316/.379/.567)
Travis Scott:  3-4, double, solo HR, 3 R, 3 RBI (.294/.393/.525)
MATT MANGINI:  1-2, 2 RBI, 2 walks, K
Eddy Hernandez:  1-4, RBI, 2 K (.184/.246/.285)
Jeff Dominguez:  2-3, double, walk (.261/.313/.355)

Every now and then, one of your hard luck starters threads the needle.  Good for Marwin Vega, and good for the Mavs, who scored big enough to make this a walkover.

AA:  West Tenn 9, Chattanooga 5
WTN:  24-33... CHA:  29-28

Doug FISTER:  6 IP, 7 H, (5 R) 4 ER (HR), 2 walks, 3 K
Brodie Downs:  3 IP, 2 H, walk, K
Brent Johnson:  3-5, 2 run HR, 2 R, walk (.298/.384/.419)
Marshall Hubbard:  3-3, 2 doubles, 2 R, 2 walks (.269/.357/.455)
Jeff Frazier:  2-5, R, RBI, K (.242/.299/.324)
Luis Valbuena:  1-5, 2 RBI (.241/.308/.381)
Luis Oliveros:  2-4, 2 RBI, R, K (.278/.330/.395)

THE FIST got bombed in the middle innings as LOOK OUT, the Lookouts roared ahead and put this game away. Yeah, just ignore that. I got the two starting pitchers confused, Chattanooga's so-and-so Fisher and West Tenn's Doug FISTER, and it turns out the FIST wasn't so bad at all. It was FISHER that got bombed in the middle innings, but he plays for the Reds org, so screw him. FEAR DOUGIE FISTBALL. DIAMOND JAXX WIN.

AAA:  Tacoma 11, Sacremento 4
TAC:  61-70... SAC:  75-56

Justin Lehr:  4 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, walk, K
Brad Thomas:  2 IP, 3 walks, wild pitch
Juan Doñe:  3 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 walks, 4 K
Nick Green:  3-4, double, 2 R, 2 RBI (.307/.357/.545)
Jeremy Reed:  1-5, triple, R, RBI (.291/.346/.438)
Bryan LaHair:  2-4, double, 2 R, walk (.272/.328/.416)
Jeff Clement:  2-4, GRAND SLAM, 2 R, 6 RBI, walk, 2 K (.264/.363/.492)
Prentice Redman:  2-5, R, 2 K (.302/.318/.512)
Oswaldo Navarro:  3-5, R, RBI (.251/.310/.328)

Jeff Clement absolutely went off, as Justin Lehr's first foray back into starting went reasonably well, and hitting for the Rainiers went VERY well in a rout.
