8/11 Minor League Wrap-Up

It'll be short and sweet.  I have to shower, get Downtown to get my ticket and figure out what the seating situation is for Monday's game, and if we have to adjust our plans further for LL4: The Voyage to Safeco.

On to the wrap-up!

Dominican:  Yep, the DSLM's game yesterday was also postponed due to rain.

Arizona:  Cubs 2, Mariners 1
AZLM's:  6-7... AZL Cubs:  6-7

Jacob Wild:  6 IP, 5 H, (2 R) 1 ER, 2 walks, 7 K, hit batter
Robbie Dominguez:  2 IP, 1 H, walk, 3 K
Juan Fuentes:  1-2, double, walk (.323/.382/.406)
Alfredo Mateo:  2-4 (.270/.336/.378)
Luis Nuñez:  2-4, K (.250/.286/.320)
Denny Almonte:  1-4, RBI, K

Jacob Wild had another solid SP effort, but the AZLM's just didn't have enough offense in the tank to string together more than a late run.

a:  Yakima 7, Everett 2
EVE:  23-29... YAK:  22-30

Juan Carlos Ramirez:  5 IP, 3 H, (4 R) 1 ER, 3 walks, 5 K, 2 balks, hit batter
Brandon McKerney:  1 IP, 1 H, (1 R) 0 ER
Philip Roy:  2 IP, 3 H, (2 R) 1 ER (HR), 4 K
Ogui Diaz:  2-5, K, SBs #10 and #11 (.259/.285/.378)
Kris Sanchez:  2-4, R (.257/.328/.339)
Manelik Pimentel:  3-4, double (.280/.347/.439)
Welington Dotel:  2-4, 2 K (.281/.320/.438)
Joe Dunigan:  1-4, solo HR, 2 K (.217/.276/.292)
James Davenport:  2-4, RBI, K

The score, in this case, actually does tell you everything you need to know.

A:  West Michigan 7, Wisconsin 2
WIS:  19-28... WMI:  32-16

Anthony Varvaro:  4 IP, 4 H, (4 R) 1 ER, walk, 4 K, wild pitch
Rollie Gibson:  2 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 2 K
Tom Ellis:  3 IP, 2 H, walk, K
James McOwen:  1-4, RBI, K (.263/.280/.299)
every hitter not named Juan Beltran had a single, but nothing more.

Varvaro got beat down in the 4th, called it a night after that, and Rollie Gibson got hammered in the 5th, film at 11, putting this game out of reach.

A+: Lancaster 15, High Desert 3
Mavs: 18-31... Jethawks: 29-20

Nathan Adcock: did not finish 1st, annihilated
Nick Allen: 4.1 IP, 7 H, 4 ER (*3 HR*), walk, K
Jose Escalona: 2.1 IP, 4 H, (6 R) 5 ER (HR), 4 walks, 4 K
Steve Uhlmansiek: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 1 ER (HR), K
Casey Craig: 1-5, solo HR, K
Jesus Guzman: 2-3, double, 2 R, walk
Adam Moore: 2-3, walk

Yeah, I really want to talk about this.

...

AA:  Tennessee 12, West Tenn 10
WTN:  19-30... TEN:  26-23

Joe Woerman:  5.1 IP, 8 H, (8 R) 5 ER (HR), 2 walks, 3 K
Michael Hrynio:  2 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 walks, K
David Asher:  1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER
Juan Sandoval:  2.1 IP, 4 H, 2 ER (HR)
Brent Johnson:  2-3, double, 3 R, RBI, 3 walks, K (.289/.374/.398)
Luis Valbuena:  2-5, double, R, 3 RBI (.251/.321/.395)
Prentice Redman:  1-6, 3 run HR, K (.248/.350/.428)
Marshall Hubbard:  3-6, double, R, RBI, K (.256/.347/.411)
Matt Tuiasosopo:  1-5, R, RBI, walk, 2 K (.273/.385/.412)
Michael Wilson:  1-4, double, R, walk, 2 K, SB (.174/.267/.333)
Michael Saunders:  2-5, R, RBI, K

The DIAMOND JAXX had built a 10-4 lead in the top 6th, only to watch Tennessee blow it up in the bottom 5th with a 5 run rally to cut it to 10-9.  With 2 outs in the bottom 9th and a runner on 3rd, Alan Rick singled in a run to tie it at 10 and send us to extras.  Eventually, Kyle Reynolds took Juan Sandoval deep to give the Smokies a walkoff win.

AAA:  Tacoma 1, Colorado Springs 0
TA-... wait a second.

This game was in Colorado Springs.  Run that by me again?

AAA:  Tacoma 1, Colorado Springs 0
Damn.
TAC:  55-66... CSP:  61-59

Ryan Feierabend:  7.1 IP, 5 H, 2 walks, 3 K
Rick White:  1.2 IP, 1 H, 2 walks
Nick Green:  3-4, double, R
Jeremy Reed:  2-4, double
rest of Rainiers lineup:  3-26, 2 walks, 6 K

Bob Keppel and Feierabend shocked us all by getting into a pitchers duel in one of the most unlikely places to have one: the mile high climes of Colorado.  The winning run came in the 8th, after a leadoff double from Nick Green, and Jeremy Reed's grounder to 1st was muffed by 1B Joe Koshansky, allowing Green to score.
