I think it's safe to say the Mariners worked at least as hard to give the title to Oakland as Oakland did.

Most Important Pitch: Bradley homer, -18.2%
Total Contribution by Pitcher(s): -39.5%
Total Contribution by Position Players: -10.5%

(What is this?)

And with that we've officially reached the end of meaningful Mariner games for 2006. We'll see a lineup full of River Cats tomorrow night leading into what promises to be an exceedingly dull final weekend against Texas. Third place is still within reach, barely, but aside from that there's really nothing to watch for anymore unless you're Francisco Cruceta's biggest fan or part of Travis Chick's humiliated family. Say hello to the worst part of the season.

But hey, Gil Meche pitches his final game as a Mariner tomorrow at 7:05pm PDT, so that's something. How about a 4.1 IP/4 R/5 BB line for old time's sake, Gil? Whaddya say? Might as well end this relationship on familiar terms.
