Minor League Wrap-Up: 5/17/06

San Antonio fell to Corpus Christi, 7-4. Yorman Bazardo came out a bit cold and ended up having one of those starts you don't expect -- you know, like Felix in every start this season. Bazardo lasted 6.1 innings but got knocked around for six runs on ten hits while fanning five and serving up two bombs. Jason Bourgeois, Jesus Guzman and Ismael Castro all went multi-hit on the day to help lead the Missions.

Notables:

Yorman Bazardo: 6.1 IP, 10 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 0 BB, 5 K, 2 HR.
Jason Bourgeois: 2-4, 1 3B, 1 RBI.
Jesus Guzman: 2-3, 1 2B, 1 BB.
Ismael Castro: 2-4, 1 RBI.
Justin Ruchti: 1-4, 1 RBI.

Lake Elsinore toppled Inland Empire, 4-2. Despite a solid effort from Justin Jordan, the 66ers couldn't finish it off against the Storm. Aaron Trolia and Stephen Kahn combined to blow the game in the late innings and handing Jordan a no-decision. Brent Johnson, Ron Prettyman and Luis Oliveros all had nice days at the dish by smacking two baseknocks a piece.

Notables:

Justin Jordan: 5.2 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K.
Brent Johnson: 2-4, 1 RBI.
Ron Prettyman: 2-4, 1 2B.
Matt Tuiasosopo: 0-4.
Luis Oliveros: 2-4.

Kane County blanked Wisconsin 2-0 (6). Robert Fagan wasn't any great digs, but I'm not so sure he deserved to just take a loss for his performance. Fagan went the whole way (5.2 innings) allowing two runs on five hits while walking one and striking out five. The offense couldn't muster much as only three T-Rats collected hits, none of them for extra bases.

Notables:

Robert Fagan: 5.2 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 5 K.
Luis Valbuena: 1-3.
Ron Garth: 1-2.
Bryan Sabatella: 1-2.
