Minor League Wrap-Up: 4/26/06

New, comments

Arkansas edged San Antonio, 2-1. With the exception of a two-run Brandon Wood blast (which was unearned) in the sixth, Ryan Feierabend was on his game. Feierabend lasted through the sixth giving up the mentioned two unearned runs on three hits while walking one and fanning six. Despite six hits, the Missions didn't get a run up on the board until a Jon Nelson groundout scored Wladimir Balentien from third in the ninth. With two outs and Bryan LaHair standing in scoring position, Gary Harris had the opportunity to equalize and responded by striking out. Such a Mission thing to do this season, it seems.

Notables:

Ryan Feierabend: 6.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K, 1 HR.
Jason Bourgeois: 1-4, 1 3B.
Jeff Clement: 0-4.
Wladimir Balentien: 1-3, 1 BB.
Bryan LaHair: 1-3, 1 2B, 1 BB.
Jon Nelson: 1-4, 1 RBI.
Jesus Guzman: 1-3, 1 2B.

Inland Empire rallied late to beat Bakersfield, 6-5. It's Cibney time! You know what? I'm not even going to mention his performance in the story, if you care you can just look at the notables. After going down 6-0 to open the game, the 66ers climbed back into it after a three run showing in the fifth and another three run effort in the eighth capped by two bases loaded walks drawn by Reed Eastley and Brent Johnson.

Notables:

Pitcher A: 3.2 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 2 K.
Josh Freakin' Womack: 1-5, 2 RBI.
Yung Chi Chen: 2-4.
Ron Prettyman: 2-4.
Erick Monzon: 1-3, 1 BB.
Omar Falcon: 1-3.
Brent Johnson: 2-3, 1 BB, 2 RBI.

Wisconsin got by Fort Wayne, 7-3. You have to love it when a pitcher no-hits a team for five innings and manages to give up a run. That's exactly what Jose Escalona did as he walked five in an otherwise fantastic performance. Three T-Rats went multi-hit on the day including Jeff Dominguez who is making a name for himself by batting .369/.425/.446 to start the season and now has the leadoff spot held down.

Notables:

Jose Escalona: 5.0 IP, 0 H, 1 ER, 5 BB, 4 K.
Jeff Dominguez: 2-5.
Ron Garth: 1-3, 2 BB, 1 RBI.
Michael Saunders: 2-5, 1 RBI.
Bryan Sabatella: 2-3, 1 2B, 1 BB, 2 RBI.
