Tacoma took care of Sacramento, 3-2. Bobby Livingston was spectacular for six innings, limiting the River Cats to just five hits while fanning six, but it was Rich Dorman who wound up getting the win after the Rainiers scored three in the final two innings. Adam Jones hit another homer and Hunter Brown had two hits to lead the offense, while Sean Green tossed a 1-2-3 ninth for his second save. Notables:
Livingston: 6 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 6 K
Jones: 2-4, 1 HR
Brown: 2-3, 1 2B
Choo: 1-4
Bohn: 0-3, 1 BB
Johnson: 1-4
San Antonio lost to Frisco, 3-1. Neither offense was packing much punch, and a two-run single by Luke Grayson off Mike Flannery proved to be all the Rough Riders needed. Cesar Jimenez was terrific for 6.1 innings in trying to end the Missions' losing streak, but bullpens often falter despite the best of intentions, and last night was just one of those games. The Missions did hit three doubles, which is something, while Oswaldo Navarro drove in their only run. Notables:
Jimenez: 6.1 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 K
Navarro: 1-2, 2 BB
LaHair: 1-4, 1 2B
Balentien: 1-3, 1 2B, 1 BB
Boucher: 0-3, 1 BB, 3 K
Garciaparra: 0-3, 1 BB
Inland Empire fell to Stockton in another squeaker, this one 2-1. Shawn Nottingham was the tough-luck loser this time around, allowing just two runs in five innings (although he did manage to put nine guys on base). After falling behind 2-0 in the second inning, the 66ers picked up an RBI double by Josh Womack an inning later, but that was all they'd get. Marshall Hubbard grounded out with men on second and third with two down in the fourth, and that was as close as they would get for the rest of the game. Reed Eastley reached base twice, so good on him. Notables:
Nottingham: 5 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 1 HR
Rivera: 3 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, 3 K
Eastley: 1-3, 1 BB
Womack: 1-4, 1 2B
Colton: 1-3, 1 3B
Tuiasosopo: 1-3, 1 2B
Wisconsin rallied to beat Southwest Michigan, 4-3. This one was probably pretty fun for the...723...fans in attendance, as they saw their T'Rats pick up two in the eighth and then another two in the ninth for the come-from-behind victory. Of course, they couldn't have done it without a little help; errors and a wild pitch played a part in all four Wisconsin runs, with Matthew Devins's throwing error from third base in the bottom of the ninth allowing both the tying and winning runs to score. Paul Fagan walked six in 5.1 innings, but the bullpen was able to keep things in control long enough for the other shoe to drop. Luis Valbuena reached base all four times he came to the plate, pretty much the only guy who did anything in the entire lineup. Notables:
Fagan: 5.1 IP, 4 H, 3 R (1 ER), 6 BB, 3 K
Valbuena: 1-1, 3 BB
Wu: 1-4
Sabatella: 1-4
Saunders: 0-4
Dominguez: 1-3
