New, comments

Sacramento handled Tacoma, 8-3. We didn't get the Clint Nageotte we were hoping to see in this one. Nageotte was touched up pretty well in six innings of work giving up eight runs (six earned) on nine hits while walking four, fanning two and giving up a bomb. The good news is, Nageotte still kept the ball on the ground relatively well and that's something to keep in mind and build upon for his next start. Dwight Bernard knows he has his work cut out for him with Nageotte, but he's not completely busted. Offensively, the Rainiers smacked seven singles and drew a few walks, but other than that, they were pretty stale against Chad Gaudin. Shin-soo Choo and Adam Jones both had two hits apiece.

Notables:

Clint Nageotte: 6.0 IP, 9 H, 8 R, 6 ER, 4 BB, 2 K, 1 HR.
Shin-soo Choo: 2-3, 1 BB.
Greg Dobbs: 0-3, 2 RBI.
Mike Morse: 1-4.
Asdrubal Cabrera: 0-1, 1 BB.
Adam Jones: 2-4.

Inland Empire outlasted Lancaster, 1-0 (10). If I asked you "which three organizational pitchers do you think would combine to throw a ten-inning shutout?", I highly doubt you'd enthusiastically come back with the names of Aaron Jensen, Mark Lowe and Mumba Rivera. Alas, that's what they did on Tuesday night to the Jethawks. Lancaster gave IE several opportunites to take advantage of their pitching thanks to four errors on the night, the fourth of which did end up costing them a bit:

Luis Oliveros hits a sacrifice bunt. Throwing error by first baseman Mark Reynolds. Josh Womack to 3rd. Luis Oliveros to 1st.

Chris Colton grounds out, third baseman Rusty Ryal to first baseman Mark Reynolds. Luis Oliveros to 2nd.

Daniel Pohlman intentionally walks Brent Johnson.

Ronald Prettyman singles on a ground ball to right fielder Carlos Gonzalez. Josh Womack scores.

There's your winner.

Notables:

Aaron Jensen: 5.0 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 K.
Mark Lowe: 4.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K.
Erick Monzon: 1-4, 1 2B.
Matt Tuiasosopo: 2-4, 1 2B.
Ron Prettyman: 1-4, 1 GW RBI.

Beloit squeaked by Wisconsin in a barnburner, 11-10 (12). So, if ten-inning pitching duels aren't your thing, how about twelve-inning slugfests? That's what they got in Beloit as both teams came out swinging. Needless to say, I have nothing interesting to mention about Jason Snyder other than he sucked and did a better job at sucking than Kyle Waldrop. Wisconsin had two chances to close this one out against the Snappers but both times relinquished the lead. In the ninth, Edgar Guaramato came on to get the save with the T-Rats leading 9-8. Disaster struck:

Edward Ovalle hit by pitch.

With Dwayne White batting, wild pitch by Edgar Guaramato, Edward Ovalle to 2nd.

Dwayne White walks.

Allan De San Miguel hits a sacrifice bunt. Throwing error by pitcher Edgar Guaramato. Edward Ovalle scores. Dwayne White to 3rd. Allan De San Miguel to 2nd.

Edgar Guaramato intentionally walks Eli Tintor.

Tarrence Patterson grounds into a force out, second baseman Luis Valbuena to catcher J. B. TuckerIII. Dwayne White out at home. Allan De San Miguel to 3rd. Eli Tintor to 2nd. Tarrence Patterson to 1st.

Toby Gardenhire pops out to first baseman Jeffrey Flaig in foul territory.

Paul Kelly grounds into a force out, fielded by third baseman Ronald Garth. Eli Tintor out at 3rd.

After going up by one thanks to a J.B. Tucker solo shot in the twelfth (his second potential game-winning homer), Ruben Flores had his turn at nailing the coffin. He saw two batters and allowed a single and homer. Game.

One fun note: The crowd likely had learned how to juggle by the end of this game as both teams committed FIVE errors. Defense wins championships.

Notables:

Jason Snyder: 4.2 IP, 8 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 3 K.
Ronald Garth: 4-6, 1 HR, 2 RBI.
J.B. Tucker: 2-5, 2 HR, 2 RBI.
Jeff Flaig: 2-5.
Luis Valbuena: 1-6, 1 2B, 1 RBI.
Casey Craig: 1-5, 1 BB, 1 RBI.
