SEATTLE MARINERS            OAKLAND ATHLETICS

Ichiro RF Ellis 2B Reed CF Kendall C Ibanez LF Kotsay CF Sexson 1B Chavez 3B Beltre 3B Payton LF Dobbs DH Hatteberg DH Lopez 2B Johnson 1B Betancourt SS Scutaro SS Ojeda C Watson RF ----------                  ----------

Franklin (6-14, 5.24)       Haren (12-10, 3.86)

Franklin's pitching on short rest so that Moyer can go tomorrow - an apparent indication that the team knows how much better Jamie pitches at Safeco. If anyone on the team can handle three days' rest, it's the rubber-armed Franklin, who usually sucks regardless of his level of fatigue.

Random unrelated points:

-DMZ's "Attrition War" is one of the greatest accomplishments in the history of the baseball blogosphere, both for the information it contains and the questions it raises. Go read, now.

-Before the season, Baseball Prospectus' PECOTA forecasting system gave Zack Greinke a 0% probability of collapsing in 2005. His ERA has risen from 3.97 in to 2004 to it's current 6.22.

LET'S GO MARINERS!
