Minor League Wrap-Up: 9/6/05

San Antonio takes and early 1-0 lead in the series by beating Midland, 3-2. Everyone give it up for Rich Dorman. Dorman looked about as good as could be expected in his 7.1 innings of work giving up a couple runs on six hit while walk in and fanning ten. The Mission offense did all their damage in the fifth as Jon Nelson and Ismael Castro smacked a couple doubles to give the Missions a bit of breathing room. Believe it or not, six of San Antonio's eight hits went for extra bases. Midland managed to get a runner home in the fifth and another off Dorman in the eighth, but the stingy Mission bullpen (Jimenez and Cortez) shut Rockhounds down.

Notables:

Rich Dorman: 7.1 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 10 K, 1 HR.
Jamie Bubela: 2-5, 1 RBI.
Adam Jones: 1-4, 1 2B.
Jesse Hoorelbeke: 1-3, 1 2B, 1 BB.
Gary Harris: 1-2, 1 2B, 2 BB.
Jon Nelson: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI.
Ismael Castro: 2-4, 2 2B.

Eugene roughed up Everett, 6-2. I don't think Harold Williams is real thrilled about how he ended his season. Williams failed to record an out and left the game after giving up a hit, three runs and a couple walks. Apparently, his shoulder was hurting, so the Aquasox took no chances and got him out of there. Filling in was Justin Thomas who, while not spectacular, wasn't too bad in the emergency starter role. Thomas went the minimum giving up two runs on five hits while walking two and striking out one. Everett had a tough time offensively as they could only muster seven baserunners the entire evening. If I'm forced to choose a offensive gameball recipient, it goes to J.B. Tucker who went deep.

Notables:

Harold Williams: 0.0 IP, 1 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 0 K.
Justin Thomas: 5.0 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 1 K.
Robert Hudson: 1-4.
Jeff Flaig: 1-4, 1 2B.
J.B. Tucker: 1-3, 1 HR, 1 BB, 1 RBI.
Luis Valbuena: 1-4.
