Tacoma is in a familiar place as they dropped Game Two to Nashville, 11-5. It looked promising from the beginning as the Rainiers started quickly and spotted themselves to a 2-0 lead before the Sounds got to come to the plate. However, Jesse Foppert was in ML form (read: not good) and got the absolute snot beat out of him as he went only 2.2 innings giving up seven runs (five earned) on six hits. The bullpen was relatively mediocre as they allowed plenty of pile-on runs after Foppert was pulled. It didn't matter though as the Rainier bats couldn't muster more than five runs on only seven hits (but three were homers). Down 0-2 is something the Rainiers managed to overcome in the last series, with ALL the elimination games away. Considering they're coming home, I wouldn't put it past them to see a series made out of this.
Notables:
Jesse Foppert: 2.2 IP, 6 H, 7 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 3 K.
Shin-soo Choo: 0-5.
Justin Leone: 1-4, 1 HR, 1 BB, 1 RBI.
Abraham Nunez: 2-3, 1 HR, 1 BB, 2 RBI.
Hunter Brown: 1-2, 2 BB.
T.J. Bohn: 2-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI.
Wisconsin also finds themselves in a hole as they dropped Game Two to South Bend, 4-1. Aaron Jensen was serviceable, but the offense wasn't. When one side isn't working, nothing is going to get done. Believe it or not, the T-Rats outhit South Bend, 5-4, but only walked once. None of the hits were timely or came with anyone on base, something the Silver Hawks managed to do correctly. The series shifts back to Appleton now with the TimberRattlers having a lot of work to get done to get on to the next round.
Notables:
Aaron Jensen: 6.2 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 3 K, 1 HR.
Brent Johnson: 1-3.
Oswaldo Navarro: 1-4, 1 2B.
Jeff Clement: 0-4, 1 RBI.
Chris Colton: 1-4.
