Oklahoma pounded Tacoma, 9-1. Another lousy start from Cha Seung Baek as he went five mediocre innings giving up six runs on nine hits while walking one and fanning three. Scott Atchison also got an inning of flawless work in and Masao Kida finished it out by padding the Red Hawks' stats. Greg Dobbs and Aaron Rifkin both had multi-hit nights to lead the uninspired offense.
Notables:
Cha Seung Baek: 5.0 IP, 9 H, 6 ER, 1 BB, 3 K.
Jamal Strong: 1-3, 1 BB.
Greg Dobbs: 2-4.
Justin Leone: 0-3, 1 BB.
Aaron Rifkin: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI.
Jose Lopez: 1-4.
San Antonio got by Wichita, 7-5. Yorman Bazardo wasn't as dominating as he was in his first start, but he's still better than Ron Villone's salary. Bazardo went six innings giving up three runs on six hits while walking two, striking out only one and giving up a homer. Bazardo was on the hook for the loss before the Missions did this in the eighth:
Gary Harris flies out to center fielder Mitch Maier.
Pitcher Change: Wes Wilkerson replaces Steve Bray.
Jesus Guzman walks.
Jon Nelson singles on a line drive to left fielder Billy Butler. Jesus Guzman to 2nd.
Luis Oliveros singles on a fly ball to center fielder Mitch Maier. Jesus Guzman scores. Jon Nelson to 2nd.
Offensive Substitution: Pinch runner Nathan Espy replaces Luis Oliveros.
Ismael Castro grounds out, pitcher Wes Wilkerson to first baseman Josh Pressley. Jon Nelson to 3rd. Nathan Espy to 2nd.
Jaime Bubela reaches on throwing error by third baseman Mike Aviles. Jon Nelson scores. Nathan Espy to 3rd.
With Adam Jones batting, Jaime Bubela steals (34) 2nd base, Nathan Espy scores. Jaime Bubela to 3rd. Passed ball by catcher John Draper.
Adam Jones singles on a ground ball to third baseman Mike Aviles. Jaime Bubela scores.
T. J. BohnJr. singles on a line drive to right fielder Shane Costa. Adam Jones to 3rd.
With Jesse Hoorelbeke batting, T. BohnJr. steals (27) 2nd base.

Big innings are fun.

Inland Empire edged High Desert, 3-2. Inland Empire put up their three runs by the third and the score stayed that way until a scare in the eight. Brandon Moorhead, who started the game, got in a bit of trouble by giving up a two-run double to Bernard Stephens to bring the Mavericks within one. Craig James was summoned and did what he always does...shut down the other team. Other than the late trouble, Moorhead's night was nearly flawless. Little Garciaparra led the offense with two hits and Bad Knee Bucky homered.
Notables:
Brandon Moorhead: 7.1 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 8 K.
Sebastien Boucher: 0-5.
Little Garciaparra: 2-4.
Bucky Jacobsen: 1-2, 1 HR, 2 BB, 1 RBI.
Bryan Lahair: 1-3, 1 BB, 1 RBI.
Wladimir Balentien: 1-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI.
Eugene beat up on Everett, 13-5. Two guys with the surname "Carter" pitched in this one. If you can guess which Carter went for Everett, you win a prize*:
Carter 1: 6.0 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 1 HR.
Carter 2: 3.0 IP, 9 H, 7 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 1 HR.
If you picked Carter 1, you lose. That's Brenton Carter, one of the better pitchers in the NWL. Go with Carter 2? Congrats! That's Eric Carter, one of the worst pitchers in the NWL.
* - no, you don't.
In anycase, Roman Martinez was the guy to actually get the start and, obviously, didn't last long. The Aquasox managed five runs despite only five hits, two by D.J. Tucker and a moonshot off the bat Alex Gary.
Notables:

Casey Craig: 0-3.
Alex Gary: 1-1, 1 HR, 2 RBI.

J.B. Tucker: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 HR, 1 RBI.
