---------- ----------
Sele (6-7, 4.71) Hernandez (5-9, 4.79)
The Mariners have limited experience against the righty Hernandez - he went 7.1 innings against Seattle back on April 11th, pitching well until collapsing in the eighth, but that's pretty much it. There's nothing particularly special or unique about him, but he doesn't have a single glaring flaw, so the hitters will just need to wait out his battles with inconsistent command and drive the strikes they get. As for Sele, he's reverted back to the pitcher we expected to have in his last two starts, but Kansas City isn't exactly San Diego or Texas. Of the three Royals he's faced pretty often, Mike Sweeney is 13-36, Matt Stairs is 10-28, and Terrence Long is 6-28, so there's your matchup information for the day. Losing a series to the Royals would be unacceptable.
LET'S GO MARINERS!
Jeff's Update: if Chris Snelling isn't in the starting lineup for some reason, bad things are going to happen.
