Sele (6-9, 4.77) Lilly (7-9, 5.21)
Two pitchers headed in opposite directions. While Sele has been various shades of ugly over the past few weeks, Lilly has caught fire, allowing nine runs in his last 38 innings (six starts), with nearly a strikeout per frame and having lowered his ERA from 7.41 to 5.21 over that span. He's beginning to look like the strong #2 pitcher many analysts thought he'd be this year, which bodes poorly for Seattle's chances this afternoon. Lilly can still be betrayed by his command and exposed against righties, though, so at least there's a little hope. It'd be nice if Miguel Olivo kept up his current pace against the guy, just for a little added boost. Sele needs to not suck, which might be asking too much.
