Minor League Wrap-Up: 6/7/05

Tacoma skated by Portland, 6-3. Andrew Lorriane had one of his rare games where he was both effective and not extremely wild. Lorraine went six solid innings giving up two runs on five hits while walking only one and striking out five. Scott Spiezio spent the night trying to prove that he's a better option in Seattle than Greg Dobbs, and didn't disappoint. Speizio had three hits on the night including a double and a homerun. Abraham Nunez and Hunter Brown also had multi hit nights to lead the Rainier offense.

Notables:

Andrew Lorraine: 6.0 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, 1 HR.

San Antonio outlasted Frisco, 7-4 (11). Juan Sandoval got the start and was beat up in his five and a third innings of work. Sandoval gave up four runs on nine hits while walking out two and striking out two. The Mission bullpen held on to keep the game tied until the to of the 11th when the bats finally exploded:

Stockton handled Inland Empire, 6-3. Miguel Martinez was looking great until everything unraveled in the fifth inning. Martinez brought a 1-0 into the bottom of the frame only to watch it evaporate and turn into a three run deficit that the offense couldn't overcome. Martinez finished only going the five innings giving up four runs on three hits while issuing five free passes and fanning three. The 66'ers had only two XBH's all night,  doubles off the bats of Michael Nesbit and Bryan Lahair. Other than that, both Michael Garciaparra and Matt Rogelstad had multi-hit nights.

Notables:

Miguel Martinez: 5.0 IP, 3 H, 4 ER, 5 BB, 3 K, 1 HR.
Michael Garciaparra: 2-4.

Adam Jones: 0-4, 3 K.
Bryan Lahair: 1-4, 1 2B.
Michael Nesbit: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI.

Wisconsin smashed Southwest Michigan, 10-4. Jason Snyder wasn't anything special in this one, but it didn't really matter as the T-Rat offense was hitting on all cylinders from the beginning. Wisconsin hitters put up a huge seven run inning the bottom of the fourth to put them up 9-2 going into the fifth. Sebastien Boucher and Yung Chi Chen both had multi-hit nights and Robert Johnson homered to lead the rout.
