Minor League Wrap-Up: 6/27/05

Quick, compact wrap-up today.

Tacoma outdid Salt Lake, 6-4. Cha Seung Baek got the start and wasn't lighting the world on fire but got the job done. Baek finished going six innings giving up three runs on five hits while walking one and striking out three. Clint Nageotte came in for some more work but only managed a third of an inning before giving up two walks. The bottom of the order smoked the ball in this one as both Ramontiago and Yuniesky Betancourt had three hits.

Cha Seung Baek: 6.0 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 1 HR.
Jamal Strong: 2-5, 1 3B, 1 RBI.
Shin-soo Choo: 1-5.
Wiki Gonzalez: 2-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI.
Greg Dobbs: 2-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI.
Ramon Santiago: 3-3, 1 BB.
Yuniesky Betancourt: 3-4, 1 3B, 2 RBI.

San Antonio edged Arkansas in the ninth, 5-4. With the bases loaded in the ninth, Jamie Bubela drew a run-scoring walk off of Aaron Pullin which ended up being the game winner. Ryan Rowland-Smith got the start and threw an OK game. Smith finished going 6.1 innings and in that time gave up four runs on five hits while walking three, striking out four and giving up two jacks. Everyone except the 8-9 hitters collected a baseknock and Adam Jones hit his first homer in AA.

Ryan-Rowland Smith: 6.1 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, 2 HR.
Jamie Bubela: 2-4, 1 HR, 1 BB, 2 RBI.
Jesus Guzman: 2-4, 1 3B.
Nate Espy: 2-3, 1 2B, 1 3B.
Adam Jones: 1-4, 1 HR.
Ismael Castro: 0-4.

Quad Cities had no problem with Wisconsin, 7-2. Casey Abrams took the hill in this one and did his normal Casey Abrams thing. He completely sucked. Abrams lasted a whole 1.2 innings and gave up four runs on three hits while walking four and striking out one. Wisconsin had a brief lead as Sebastien Boucher homered in his first AB in the top of the first, but that was the last time the T-Rats would see the light of day.

Casey Abrams: 1.2 IP, 3 H, 4 ER, 4 BB, 1 K.
Yung Chi Chen: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI.
Sebastien Boucher: 1-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI.
Luis Soto!: 0-3, 1 BB.
Robert Johnson: 1-3, 1 2B.

Spokane came back to break Everett's heart, 8-6. Ninth inning and the AquaSox have a 6-3 lead:

# Pitcher Change: Edgar Guaramato replaces Jeff Mault.
Johnny Washington walks.
Steve Murphy walks. Johnny Washington to 2nd.
John Mayberry reaches on fielding error by shortstop Dean Zorn. Johnny Washington to 3rd. Steve Murphy to 2nd.
Joseph Kemp called out on strikes.
Brian Valichka walks. Johnny Washington scores. Steve Murphy to 3rd. John Mayberry to 2nd.
Freddie Thon hits a grand slam (1) to right field. Steve Murphy scores. John Mayberry scores. Brian Valichka scores.

Wonder how Edgar Guaramato feels.

Tough way to go down but don't let it overshadow some excellent relief from David Asher and Jeff Mault who both went two innings after starter Robert Fagan was pulled before the fifth began. Luis Valbuena had the big stick fof Everett as he smacked three hits and Daniel Santin chipped in with two.

Robert Fagan: 4.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 3 K.
Luis Valbuena: 3-4, 1 3B, 1 RBI.
Dean Zorn: 0-3, 1 BB, 1 RBI.
Casey Craig: 1-4.
Daniel Santin: 2-5.
Michael Saunders: 1-3.
