6/20: Open Game Thread

Finally, we can truthfully say that the Mariners are outscoring the Athletics on the season.

First Pitch: 7:05pm PDT

OAKLAND ATHLETICS           SEATTLE MARINERS

Kendall C Ichiro RF Kotsay CF Winn LF Crosby SS Beltre 3B Chavez 3B Sexson 1B Hatteberg DH Ibanez DH Kielty LF Lopez 2B Johnson 1B Reed CF Swisher RF Morse SS Ellis 2B Borders C ----------                  ----------

Haren (4-7, 4.14)           Sele (6-5, 3.79)

A good matchup between two unexpectedly red-hot pitchers. A comparison between the two reveals that Haren walks fewer batters and has a significantly higher strikeout rate, suggesting that his success is more sustainable over a long period of time, but Sele's still been terrific in five of his last six starts, so there's no reason to expect his smoke and mirrors to run out of fuel (mixed metaphors?) tonight. Something to note: the A's are finally hitting, led by a healthy Bobby Crosby and a rejuvenated Eric Chavez. This won't be as easy as we'd like it to be.

LET'S GO MARINERS!
