Dan wasn't going to be a significant contributor to the 2005 Mariners by any means, but replacing an experienced, likeable veteran with a total candyass isn't going to help anyone, Olivo in particular.
PECOTA projects Wiki to hit .234/.310/.378 this year in limited duty. Which is fine for a backup catcher, but this is a guy who's pissed off fans and coaches in Southern California and the Pacific Northwest alike with his lazy attitude and reluctance to listen to instruction. If ever there were a time for Olivo to step up, it's now.
