Hargrove called everyone together before tonight's game to talk about the collective hitting slump. In his words, it was an "informal talk" which focused "more on encouragement" than anything else. Clearly, it worked.

That article also has some neat new details on Madritsch's injury. Specifically:

Madritsch said the torn sac in his shoulder has healed 100 percent in one area, 80 percent in another area and 60 percent in the third area. Surgery is not being recommended at this point, and that development might save his season.

I don't know about you, but I'm ready and willing to accept whatever good news I can find, so I'm pretty happy to hear that his shoulder has improved so much.
