Minor League Wrap-Up: 5/2/05

Colorado Springs got by Tacoma, 3-1. A pretty solid performance from Jorge Campillo was completely wasted in this one. The Rainier offense just couldn't get anything going against Jason Young despite multi-hit efforts by Dustin Delucchi and Abraham Nunez. Campillo takes the hard loss after pitching six innings surrendering two runs on seven hits. A bit disheartening was the fact that Campillo didn't manage to strikeout a single batter all night.

Notables:

Jorge Campillo: 6.0 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 0 K.
Dustin Delucchi: 2-4.
Chris Snelling: 1-3, 1 BB.
Abraham Nunez: 2-4, 1 RBI.
Justin Leone: 1-3.
Dave Hansen: 0-4.
Mike Morse: 0-3.

San Antonio shut out Springfield, 8-0. Ryan Rowland-Smith looks as if he's back on track as he was sparkling in his 5.2 innings of work. Smith didn't give up a run and limited the Cardinals to three hits. Rene Cortez came in to finish off Springfield as he tossed 3.1 scoreless, one-hit innings to pick up his first save. Yuniesky Betancourt's bat finally came to life as he homered and drove in three and Eriberto Menchaca also chimed in with three RBI.

Notables:

Ryan Rowland-Smith: 5.2 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 K.
Yuniesky Betancourt: 2-5, 1 HR, 3 RBI.
T.J. Bohn: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 BB.
Nate Espy: 0-2, 2 BB.
Jesse Hoorelbeke: 2-5, 1 2B, 1 RBI.
Jesus Guzman: 1-2, 1 BB.
Rene Rivera: 2-4.
Eriberto Menchaca: 1-4, 3 RBI.

Inland Empire smashed Lancaster, 9-2. Jason Mackintosh was excellent as he went eight innings and gave up a single run on four hits while striking out four. The offense was also clicking as just about the entire lineup not named Adam Jones or Casey Craig contributed in some way.

Notables:

Jason Mackintosh: 8.0 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K.
Juan Gonzalez: 2-5.
Erick Monzon: 3-5, 2 2B, 1 RBI.
Matt Rogelstad: 1-4, 1 BB.
Wladimir Balentien: 1-3, 1 3B, 2 BB, 2 RBI.
Adam Jones: 0-4, 3 K.
Casey Craig: 0-4.

Note: According to the game log, Greg Wear came in to start the 9th but didn't actually throw a pitch. Whether this is due to injury or just a typograpical error, I am not sure yet. If anyone can fill me in, it would be appreciated.

Wisconsin trumped Southwest Michigan, 8-5. After a little early trouble, Casey Abrams settled down to go seven innings to pick up his third win of the season. Eric O'Flaherty came in to get two outs in the ninth to pick up his fourth save. In the meantime, the entire lineup hit well as everyone except Mike Wilson picked up one hit and the 1-2-3 hitters all had multi-hit nights.

Notables:

Casey Abrams: 7.0 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 HR.
Asdrubal Cabrera: 3-5, 1 2B, 3 R.
Josh Womack: 2-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI.
Yung Chi Chen: 2-5, 2 RBI.
Matt Tuiasosopo: 1-4.
Brandon Green: 1-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI.
