Welcome Back, Rene Rivera

The all-glove-no-hit backstop's been promoted to fill in for FLC, who's getting DL'd. Rivera was up for a little while last September, appearing in two games and going 0-3 at the plate. He's a career .253/.310/.369 hitter, with a 2005 PECOTA projection of .214/.270/.319, but the Mariners presumably didn't feel comfortable with the idea of promoting Ryan Christianson to play behind the plate, so here we are. If FLC's injury turns out to be reasonably serious, I'd be surprised if the organization doesn't pick up a randomly generated veteran backstop, so that Rivera can keep getting regular playing time in the minors.
