Minor League Wrap-Up: 5/12/05

Tacoma blanked Round Rock, 3-0. Felix Hernandez showed why he's the #1 pitching prospect in baseball tonight as he went seven shutout innings giving up only two hits while fanning eight. Masao Kida pitched a perfect eighth and George Sherill came in the ninth to pick up his sixth save of the season. The Tacoma batters managed to get on base 14 times (8 H, 6 BB, 1 E) and pushed three runs home. Ramon Santiago was the lone multi-hit collector and Aaron Rifkin smacked the team's only XBH.

Inland Empire outdid Lancaster, 6-2. It was a hit parade as the 66'er offense banged out 17 baseknocks en route to the win. Shawn Nottingham wasn't spectacular but at least got away without sustaining heavy run damage. Nottingham went 6.1 innings giving up only two runs on a whopping ten hits. Five 66'ers had multi-hit games and everyone in the starting lineup collected at least one hit. Adam Jones lead the way with four hits of his own and Bryan Lahair blasted two out of the park.

West Michigan toppled Wisconsin, 4-2. Two runs in the bottom of the first and the T'Rat offense was done for the evening. Casey Abrams suffered from a lack of run support as he wasn't real horrible by going six innings giving up two runs on five hits while striking out four. Oswaldo Navarro was the lone offensive highlight as he drove the ball and picked up a few doubles.
