Gonzalez (1-0, 4.22)        Pineiro (2-3, 5.66)

These guys matched up five days ago, and Joel got rocked, allowing six runs through four innings before settling down. The difference is that tonight's game will be in Safeco, rather than Fenway, and Boston's team OPS drops by nearly 100 points on the road. Pineiro's career ERA at home is also about a run and a half lower than where it is elsewhere, so that's two things working in our favor. The problem: Manny and Ortiz are a combined 16-37 against Joel with five homers. I'm guessing that Pineiro will find himself in a jam at some point tonight in which he's facing the middle of the order with runners on in a close contest, and the result of that jam will determine the outcome of the game.

LET'S GO MARINERS!
