Minor League Wrap-Up: 4/30/05

Tacoma split a twin bill with Salt Lake, 3-5 and 9-4. Damian Moss is back, much to the joy of people who admire long sideburns across the world. In anycase, Moss showed everyone why he continues to be down in AAA as he went 5 innings giving up five runs (four earned) on four hits while issuing four free passes. Ramon Santiago knocked in all three runs for the Rainiers with a double to lead an uninspired offense.

It was King Felix time for Game 2. While Hernandez wasn't on his A-game, he got the job done as he went all seven innings and gave up four runs on an unnerving ten hits while striking out ten. The offense finally awoke and hit with authority as Chris Snelling, Wiki Gonzalez (one homer), Aaron Rifkin (two homers) and Mike Morse (one homer) all had multi-hit games.

Rancho Cucamonga edged Inland Empire, 5-4. Michael Moorhead had just "one of those starts." Moorhead gave up five runs on ten hits in five innings. He did strike out seven and didn't walk anyone, so there was a bit of a silver lining in his performance. Bryan Lahair carried most the offensive attack with a homer and three RBI.

Wisconsin shut out South Bend, 3-0. Aaron Jensen = brilliant. Jensen tossed a four-hit complete game shutout. After a leadoff single by Emilio Bonifacio to begin the bottom of the first, Jensen didn't allow another hit until a Javier Brito double in the 5th and allowed two more slap singles in the 7th and 9th. He was dominant. Yung Chi Chen, Brandon Green and Thomas Hubbard all had multi-hit nights.
