Troy Cate, Ryan Christianson, Renee Cortez, Omar Falcon, Jesus Guzman, Willie Hogan, Darwin Soto (released) and Damiam Moss have been suspended for 15 games after both violated Major League Baseball's Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. They join 31 other minor leaguers to test positive for steroids during testing this spring. Dave also reports that Greg Jacobs tested positive and was suspended, although his name wasn't listed in the press release.
Jose Lopez will require surgery to repair a broken hamate bone in his left hand. He is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.
Rett Johnson and Ryan "Little Unit" Anderson were also released from the organization today. Both pitchers have struggled in their attempts to return from their respective ailments and will be looking to find work elsewhere. I (we) wish them both the best.
