4/28: Open Game Thread

Do Mariners fans really want Gil Meche deciding who wins the series? Do Rangers fans really want to extend the same responsibility to Chris Young? Well, we don't have a choice, so there's no sense in complaining.

First pitch: 8:05pm EDT

SEATTLE MARINERS            TEXAS RANGERS

Ichiro RF                   Soriano 2B
Reed CF                     Blalock 3B
Beltre 3B                   Young SS
Sexson 1B                   Teixeira 1B
Boone 2B                    Dellucci DH
Ibanez DH                   Mench LF
Winn LF                     Hidalgo RF
Wilson C                    Nix CF
Valdez SS                   Barajas C

----------                  ----------

Meche (1-1, 6.86)           Young (2-1, 5.79)

Last time out, Meche had the snot beat out of him by the Indians in the first inning before settling down. If he pitches like that again, tonight's going to be even worse. He's a flyball pitcher, so he's already at a disadvantage going into tonight's game, and my heart's going to skip a beat every time he throws that high fastball. Fun Fact: in nine career at bats against Meche, Laynce Nix has four home runs. You think we'll see him tonight? With luck, the enormous Chris Young will be off his game tonight. He doesn't throw as hard as you'd expect, given his 6'10 frame, but he comes with pretty good command, so the hitters will need to get their swings in before they fall behind in the count.

LET'S GO MARINERS!
