Minor League Wrap-Up: 4/19/05

A bit late, I know...sorry.

Sacramento scooted by Tacoma, 4-2. For a quick take on Felix, scroll down. The most excruciating thing for a fan is to either 1) watch his/her favorite pitcher get lit up like a Christmas tree or 2) watch the offense sputter like a '66 Plymouth Fury Wagon. The Raininers treated us to #2 as they started rallies but couldn't cap them with any actual production. With the exception of a Mike Morse RBI double and a Justin Leone homerun, the game was dry.

Notables:

Felix Hernandez: 6.0 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 4 BB, 8 K.
Jamal Strong: 1-5.
Shin-soo Choo: 1-3, 2 BB.
Justin Leone: 1-4, 1 BB, 1 HR, 1 RBI.
Wiki Gonzalez: Lazy.
Mike Morse: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI.

San Antonio edged Frisco in extras, 3-2 (11). All the pitching was sound in this one. Juan Sandoval took the hill and was quite effective in his 6.2 innings. Jiminez and Harris both had no problems keeping Frisco at bay either. However, remember what I said about watching offenses sputter? At least Jon Nelson righted the ship with a game-winning single in the eleventh to score Nate Espy.

Notables:

Juan Sandoval: 6.2 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K.
Yuniesky Betancourt: 0-5.
T.J. Bohn: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 BB, 1 RBI.
Nate Espy: 2-3, 1 HR, 2 BB, 1 RBI.
Jon Nelson: 1-5, 1 GW RBI.
Ismael Castro: 1-4, 1 2B.
Rene Rivera: 1-3.

Lancaster diced Inland Empire, 9-6. Not a good night for Michael Moorhead or defense and both had off-nights en route to this loss. Moorhead lasted 5.1 in which he gave up seven runs on eight hits (four earned, thanks defense!). Nibaldo Acosta continued batting practice as he gave up a couple runs in his 2.2 innings. Pokey Reese started his rehab assignment and had a multi-hit night with a double and two walks. You might want to take a screenshot of that considering it's his best offensive performance since he was in the minors with the Reds.

Notables:

Michael Moorhead: 5.1 IP, 8 H, 7 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 1 HR.
Pokey Reese: 2-4, 1 2B, 2 BB, 1 RBI.
Adam Jones: 1-6.
Bryan LaHair: 2-4, 1 BB, 1 RBI.
Wladimir Balentien: 2-4, 1 BB.
Matt Rogelstad: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 BB, 2 RBI.

Wisconsin and Burlington were postponed in the 2nd tied 2-2. I'm not sure if they'll continue this one (it says "suspended") or if they'll just reschedule as part of a double-header. We'll find out.
