Minor League Wrap-Up: 4/13/05

Tacoma shutout Sacramento, 4-0. Felix Hernandez took the hill for his second start of the season and went five innings giving up no runs on five hits with five strikeouts. His ERA thus far? 0.00. Joy. Shin-soo Choo provided the offensive spark in the second with an RBI single and also collected his first AAA homerun.

Mike Morse: 0-4.
Shin-soo Choo: 2-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 2 R.

Midland outdueled San Antonio, 1-0. Tough night for Bobby Livingston who was excellent in his seven innings of work (with the exception of a Brant Colamarino solo shot) as he couldn't get a lick of support from anyone.

Notables:

Bobby Livingston: 7.0 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 1 HR.
Yuniesky Betancourt: 1-4.
T.J. Bohn: 0-1, 3 BB.
Jesse Hoorelbeke: 2-3, 1 BB.
Ismael Castro: 0-4.
Rene Rivera: 1-4.

Inland Empire demolished High Desert's defense, 17-11. In what might be the year's most bizarre game, High Desert committed eight errors and of Inland Empire's 17 runs only three were earned. That's defensive collapse, and it's beyond anything I think I have ever seen. Ryan Feierabend got the start for Inland Empire and sucked (just like the rest of the pitching). However, on such a strange night, does that surprise you?

Notables:

Ryan Feierabend: 2.2 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 1 HR.
Michael Garciaparra: 0-4, 3 BB.
Matt Rogelstad: 5-7, 1 2B, 4 RBI.
Adam Jones: 2-6, 1 HR, 2 RBI.
Bryan LaHair: 0-4, 2 BB, 1 RBI.
Wladimir Balentien: 1-5, 1 BB.
B.J. Garbe: 1-5, 1 BB, 2 R.

If anyone was at this game, e-mail me. I'd love to hear how it all went down.

Wisconsin edged Quad Cities, 3-2 (11). Matt Tuiasosopo hit the walk-off in the bottom of the 11th to win it for the Timber Rattlers. Mark Lowe went five innings in another solid performance for the 21-year-old righthander.
