Goodbye, Bobby Madritsch

The best starting pitcher from that awful 2004 Mariner team is gone, having been claimed off waivers by the Royals (thanks to MfaninAlaska for tipping me off in the diaries section).

The key Bavasi quotation:

We have been very concerned about Bobby's overall health and his approach to improving it. Bobby has a heart of gold and we wish him nothing but the best.

The team, evidently, doesn't believe that Madritsch is capable of returning from his injury and becoming a successful pitcher again any time soon. So it goes.

Why do the neat ones get hurt, while the crappy, boring ones are always the picture of perfect health?
