I like him a lot better for the Mariners than one of the college pitchers, but that's the first I've heard of him going so early.

Every team sends a couple of guys to carry the banner, and this year (June 4th) one of the Mariners' reps will be Mike Cameron. Other former M's or Mariners-related people in attendance on behalf of other clubs: Ryan Franklin (Cardinals), Mike Hargrove (Indians), and (of course) Pat Gillick (Phillies).
