Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

Peace Out

And so ends one of the most miserable Mariner chapters I think any of us have ever had to endure. It's never easy to just dump a guy outright when there's no interest in him anywhere else, and you have to feel at least a little bit of sympathy for the person (as opposed to the athlete), but on the other hand, take away the release and Horacio's day has been pretty good.

So he's got that going for him.

Nice subtle joke.
Take away all those bad starts and Ramirez wasn't that terrible.
...and now I'm here

He will get work
So I do not feel sorry for him.

I wish I were left-handed and lacked skill.

I myself am left handed and lack skill
if you take away my righthandedness.

Just look in the mirror.
It reverses everything so you'll be a lefty with tons of skills.

I'm pretty new in my baseball fanaticism...
but given the apparent difference in quality between AL and NL hitting, HoRam will probably get some work in the NL, won't he?

But, to be honest, I'm just glad he's not pitching for us anymore...

You could be a part-time model...but you'd probably still have to keep your normal job

Take away the fact that we gave up Soriano...
and HoRam's bad starts, and this wasn't such a bad trade for the Mariners.

Take away all of the regular
season and playoffs losses for the Mariners and they've never lost a game that counts!

Take away Soriano ... ... and the bad starts,
...and the fact that without Soriano Morrow was forced into the pen, thus losing a year of development as a SP, thus leading to $48 Million for Silva that could have been maybe $4 million for Morrow over the same time....

and this was a helluva trade....

by Doc Baseball on Mar 12, 2008 4:15 PM PDT up reply actions

Take away Howard Lincoln
and the Mariners draft Andrew Miller or (maybe, although that was probably more Fontaine's call and less due to slotting) Tim Lincecum -- both of which were more ready to step into a starting rotation slot than Morrow is/was...

Alas Horatio. Quo vadis?
Casey Janssen apparently blew out his arm.  Maybe there's a home for you in Toronto, where you can hone your skills against the Red Sox, Yankees, and DRays??  Should be lots of opportunities there to get into a rhythm.

Alas Horatio. Quo vadis?
Texas pitchers are dropping like flies in Arlington in August.  You could have a lot of fun there, too.

by Steve Nelson on Mar 12, 2008 3:40 PM PDT up reply actions

Yes, but Toronto just signed
Armando Benitez to fill that bullpen hole.

by Llewdor on Mar 12, 2008 4:13 PM PDT up reply actions

the bullpen hole was created ...
when they decided to give Janssen a shot as a starter.  So with Janssen down they still have room for a starter.

I'm sure Geoff Baker would be thrilled to see HoRam pitching for the Jays.

I get those two confused for some reason.

Good news, indeed!
I was worried that we were going to be stuck on that crapper for two years...

Maybe we could convince Howard Lincoln...
..that this would be a great pastime for him to consider for himself over the next couple of years....

by Doc Baseball on Mar 12, 2008 6:01 PM PDT up reply actions

Even though almost all these guys make more money
than I could ever imagine making in my entire life, I still feel sorry for them when they get fired.

So while I'm incredibly grateful that I'll never have to see him in a Mariners' uniform ever again, I'm not jumping for joy or anything.
