Top 50 Mariner Moments, 2007: #25
June 3rd: Jamie Burke lays down possibly the most awesome squeeze bunt of all time.
----------
I don't know how many testicles you need to be able to bunt a 94mph tailing fastball that's coming right at your face, but I'm pretty sure it's more than two, since faced with a similar situation I can tell you with 100% certainty that I would've dropped to the ground and drowned my trousers.
I love squeeze bunts, I love Jamie Burke, and I love seeing people perform extraordinary feats that I could never envision pulling off myself. This moment had all three. It also happened to plate the eventual winning run for good measure, but that doesn't mean anything to me; it was incredible enough on its own that I wouldn't care if it came in a blowout. This was my favorite bunt since Carlos Guillen won us the 2000 ALDS. You better believe it belongs this high on the list.

This should be higher
Even crazier is that later in the season, Gerald Laird did almost the exact same thing against us. Man on third, one out, fastball at his face, bunted perfectly, squeeze successful, fell down on his butt and rolled around until they threw him out. My jaw didn't gape that time though, I just laughed at the improbability of seeing that play twice in one season.
