I'm still rooting for a win,
and I did all of last September as well.

Am I optimistic?  Not so much.

RH long man
doesn't Mac do the opposite of what they're called up for.... Parrish was suppose to pitch in long relief... was used in close/late situations.... White when called up was suppose to pitch in long relief.... nothing else needs saying there.

by LongBeachDave on Sep 7, 2007 6:32 PM PDT reply actions

Something has got to change.
Johnnie Mac has to realize that he has to shake things up. We're just playing uninspired. Batista totally collapsed after the Granderson bomb, Guillen's been dogging it out in right, the ball he kicked earlier was basically cause he didn't get over fast enough, and everybody's hacking at anything hittable. IMHO, it looks like we don't have a leader in the clubhouse, nobody who'll get people fired up. All Mac's been saying to the press is that he'll "Stick with what we've got" and that we've "gotta do better, gotta pick it up." I don't know what's going on, but it sure looks like there's a lack of leadership to me.

I'm pissed, and I ramble when I'm pissed. Apologies.

Well, maybe there is something
to the stories about clubhouse "harmony" and the disruptions with calling up players earlier.  Something got into these guys, and it is not something good.  I haven't seen a collapse like this from a "contending" Seattle team since the Ricky Pierce--Gary Payton fight that got the #1 Sonics--with the best record in the NBA--bumped out of the playoffs by the #8 Denver Nuggets.  There must be something going on in that clubhouse that we don't know about.

by ThundaPC on Sep 7, 2007 6:54 PM PDT reply actions

This has just been the worst
I mean, even if they are sleepwalking, they'd win 2 or 3...it's like they could care less, hacking at every first or second pitch, lazy tags...I think they've given up.  Jeez, I put in this effort at work, my ass is out the door in a second.  The sad thing is, they'll all get a nice fat paycheck no matter what happens.

by LongBeachDave on Sep 7, 2007 6:54 PM PDT reply actions

Oh, I think it's worse than that.
If they have just given up, they'd be a lot more relaxed at the plate and be more productive.

It's the opposite of sleepwalking. The team is pressing and trying to do too much, because they CAN feel it slipping away.

And they're not going to show their emotions in public or even on the surface, because it's not "professional."

It's that they don't know what the hell to do--the ship is sinking and they feel totally helpless and don't know what to do about it. And the coaching staff isn't willing or don't know what to do to get them out of that quiet panic/desperation mode.
