Hey John, You Suck

Maybe I wasn't overreacting after all. It wasn't that long ago that I took some flak after calling Mac unqualified for the manager position, but on the heels of what we've seen over these last few days, uh, yeah. I don't like to do this very often, but if there are any of you out there who still believe that McLaren deserves this job, you're wrong. You're wrong.

A manager has a lot of responsibilities, but first and foremost among them is helping his team win. Forget tonight's game; it became abundantly clear several weeks ago that John McLaren does not know how to do this. How did he even get the job? Was there any sort of questioning process, or did McLaren and the executives just go down to the field with the Moose's ATV and ghost ride the whip for half an hour? It's almost unfathomable how bad this has gotten. Kudos to the organization for making me miss a guy who at the time I would've gladly ridden out of town on a rail. I get it. You never really appreciate what you have until it's gone. You've made your point. Now, please, stop the lesson and start playing serious.

Biggest Contribution: Kenji Johjima, +27.7%
Biggest Suckfest: Jose Vidro, -29.0%
Most Important Hit: Johjima single, +16.2%
Most Important Pitch: Lofton walk, -34.1%
Total Contribution by Pitcher(s): -73.0%
Total Contribution by Hitters: +23.0%
Total Contribution by Opposition: 0.0%

(What is this chart?)

I'm making this post sound more angry than I wanted to. I don't write very well at two in the morning, I guess. Truthfully, I'm not even that upset - when I heard from a few people how the game ended, I just started laughing uncontrollably. This is one of those things that, once you abandon all hope for the playoffs, becomes undeniably hilarious. I mean, Rick White in the bottom of the ninth of a tie game? Six consecutive losses, with four White sightings and zero JJ? How is that not funny? If nothing else, at least McLaren has managed to inject some humor into what would've otherwise been an emotionally crippling week of bad baseball. It hasn't been boring.

Toronto tomorrow. Four days ago we were getting set to begin our most highly-anticipated series in years. Now you're probably asking yourself if you even want to watch. Think about that for a minute.

Remember the last time our season was done?
What was that, a month ago? This is a very streaky team...

Well shit.
I missed it.  Somebody want to tell me what the original title was?

I like that one better!
But I understand keeping the profanity out of the thread titles.

I kinda took it personally
until I realized you weren't talking about me.  Sometimes I forget there are other people named John in the world.

Well
its good to see Jeff alive.

But im guessing the chair didnt make it. Either that, or the camera you use to photograph the chair with. Or both.

Forecasting McLarens end of road trip comments
"We would have won a few more games if the big bat of Sexson hadn't been hobbled by the hamstring"

"Take away a few bad pitches by the starters and those 18 walks by Rick White and it would have been a good road trip"

"It was a learning experience for Jones. He got that one start way back in Cleveland and some valuable time discussing different facets of the game with Willie"

Fuck John McLaren
If he gets re-signed I will lead the mass suicide off the roof of Safeco. He is flushing this season down the toilet. I am so mad at him. Him personally. I am having trouble expressing in words my frustration. Rick White? Rick Fucking White!?!?! ARGH

I'm starting to wonder if Bavasi is as well.

God...
please let today be the day that John McLaren is trampled by a runaway circus elephant.

You changed the standings!  Well played.

If only we had a dependable long man
Francisco Cruceta's numbers with Texas' AAA team:

As a starter: (5 starts) 4.15 29 K's in 26 IP.

As a reliever: 37.1 IP, 2.17, 39 K to 18 BB.

In the PCL, 2 homers allowed total.

This situation was created before the season even fucking started.

Known juicer
And again, the Redhawks' home park is one of the hardest PCL parks to homer in, and Rangers MLB pitching sucks, so if you haven't been called up from AAA Oklahoma, you're probably not very good.

by Gomez on Aug 31, 2007 9:23 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

well...
if you are kicked out of the Astro's "bullpen" you aren't very good either.

But I had no knowledge of the Redhawks' park so thanks for that.

I still would rather have Cruceta than White or Parrish or anybody over 35 who has been rejected from a bad bullpen.

I would rather have Pinata back.

Are we really going to look back...
... on this season and have these two fuckwicks to blame for our dashed pennant hopes?

Cuz that's just sad. I felt like Owen Wilson last night... today I feel like Luke, which is only slightly better.

I can't take this.

Yep
Should done what Vince McMahon did, and went with Bret Hart.

Well, the good news
We're in first place in the 2008 AL West standings.

I would just like to say, I think one of the funniest things you have ever done is rest the season tracker to next year.

The worst part about all of this.....
I like John McLaren!  He seems like a good guy and someone that is wiling to listen to other ideas.  Hargrove just rubbed me the wrong the way, Grover just kinda look like an A-hole.  I don't really get that vibe from Mac.

I really want Mac to do well and be the manager of this team, I am rooting for him, but right now it isn't going well.  I want to like you Mac, but you are making it VERY difficult.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING JOHNNY MAC?!?!

Neyer's blog
At the top is a bit about the M's, Mac, and even Baker.

Its the lead bullet point so it can be read even if you don't have the glorious Insider subscription. How anybody lives without live access to Joe Morgan's chats, I have no idea.
