Oh I would MUCH rather have the division
The next series will go a long ways in determining that..  but it would be nice to pull into a playoff spot no matter how it comes along.

Yeah
I don't see Putz blowing a 3 run lead (assuming we dont score again)  if more than 3, than even better

be good
if they could add on about 5 more runs here, so JJ wouldn't have to pitch after his 1.1ip yesterday... fully rested for Anaheim would be nice.

Broussard's infinitely better than Sexson at
hitting right now, but from what I saw last year, he's the world's worst fielder at 1st, but since Sexson is the 3rd worst (Giambi gets spot number 2) might as well start Big Ben (Broussard not Davis, remember when people thought he could be good?)

Wlad
has never played anything but outfield.... putting him at first is something that would need to take some time.. grounders, fielding bunts, picking throws out of the dirt..  its not as simple as some make it sound.

by MfaninAlaska on Jul 29, 2007 4:50 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Would whoever it is
be as shitty as Richie?

Shit, I'll take a flyer on Bryan LaHair if it comes to that.  But, really, we could go 'what if he gets hurt' for everybody in baseball.  Are you gonna hold onto and start all your albatrosses because you fear their replacements getting injured?

It's the baseball equivalent of fearing bird flu.

by Gomez on Jul 29, 2007 4:53 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

If you throw out
that whole batting average thing when it comes to Sexson, he's not as bad as his stats... 75/44 k/bb an obp .102 higher then his batting average.... out of 68 hits 34 have gone for extra bases... the thing that is hurting Sexson is he's not getting many singles when he does put the ball in play....

now that doesn't mean I want him starting still.. at the same time, there's no reason to just dump him either for nothing.

by MfaninAlaska on Jul 29, 2007 5:01 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

His low avg may have something to do
with his atrociously low 10% line drive rate.

by Gomez on Jul 29, 2007 5:05 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Like hell there isn't....
Getting his contract off of the books is enough of a reason to dump him.

Even getting half of it off of the books would be a steal. Doesn't matter one bit what you get in return.

oh yeah mac should gave him a uppercut with thte right followed with some quick left jabs, that would teach that umpire.

mac went out argued with the guy and got sexson away from the ump so sexson couldnt accidently bump the ump an get a suspension. what else was he really supposed to do? beat the shit outta the ump? find his car in the parking lot and slash the tires? call in a bomb threat on his hotel? what do you suggest should have happened?

mocked the umps call...
if the ump keeps walking at me and jawing with me I'm gonna give it back to him.  The ump needs to be professional...that means make the call, assume someone might be upset, and walk away.

He walked at Richie before Richie even said a word (the OF camera showed that Richie kinda went "ohhhh").

I just thought the umpire was far from professional like Mac said he was

This is by far....
my largest criticism of MLB umpires. Many of the ejections in baseball would be avoided if the umpires themselves didn't instigate and escalate the situation.

This was a classic case of that. Richie didn't say a word to that clown. He simply didn't like the look on Richie's face and confronted him about it.

It was a real petty move on the ump's part. They need to be held accountable for their actions and they never are.

I agree with this
The umps face absolutely no significant accountability whatsoever for their actions, and that needs to change.  There are so many asshats who get away with being asshats, while changing the outcome of games.

Heh, oh man
Could you imagine the impact if a scandal like that hit baseball?  I mean, in the NBA it's generally common knowledge that the officiating is jacked and that stars and certain teams get all kinds of calls, so this isn't a backbreaking stretch.  But baseball, even for all its bad calls, is generally considered straight and narrow.

by Gomez on Jul 29, 2007 5:19 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

yeah
look at the aftermath of the black sox scandal, i know its not exactly the same, but pretty similar... 100 years later its still fresh in peoples minds

yeah i agree, but sometimes
you have to step up and be the bigger man... he even said that Richie apologized to the guy

by thenatural on Jul 29, 2007 5:06 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

You see Richie step up
he was the bigger man..but still..Richie walked away once and the ump followed him and said something to make Richie turn around.

He's just a former mall security guard that somehow got an umpiring job and the power went to his head

I now know why so many M's fans
are retarded...they listen to the post-game show.  Horrible analysis...comments, everything

And the casual Mariner fan is one of the most ignorant in baseball....partly because they listen to, and buy in, to this crap.

I fucking hate you Mariners

Listen to KJR callers sometime...
you think that we just joke about the casual M's fan wanting Willie Bloomquist to be an everyday player?

and you'd be SHOCKED to know how many casual M's fans want Adam Jones traded for someone, like YESTERDAY. It's awful.

by PLU Tim on Jul 29, 2007 5:13 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

how can
you even really listen to kjr, i listned to them for the nba draft because both tv and intenet went down 15 minutes before the draft and that was the first time i had listened to them for more then a 5 minute span in well over a decade.  kjr is about as usefull and plesant as having 60 grit sandpaper to use as toiletpaper.

Yeah
I find KOMO annoying stupid, so I figured I could stand KJR.  I listened to KJR for 10 minutes one day, and had to change it back.  I felt my brain hemorrhaging from all the stupid talk.

I turned the game off when this went 10-7
imagine my reaction at the gym when I saw 14-10 final. Sigh, I gotta stop giving up so easily.

It's OK...
you probably just assumed that McLaren was going to let Reitsma throw 140 pitches before taking him out.

It was a safe assumption.

Reitsima was out by the time
it was 10-7.

and with him MIA, Dave's probably struggling with getting it back up.

Maybe he's tweaking???

Here's a thought...
Beltre's slugging percentage is only 20 or so points behind Raul's entire OPS vs lefties. Make of that what you will.
