Around SBN: News And Other Updates Leading Up To Pats-Giants

Congratulations, Grover

I hate to see you go but I love to watch you leave. rrrrrrrrawr

We've given you a lot of shit over the years, but you deserved this win, and I just hope you're able to enjoy it as much as the rest of us. This team is as hot as it's been in a long long time, and the way you've handled the bullpen is a big reason why.

Thank you for the good you've done. I'll overlook the bad.

Holy Cow!
You mean ManTank's water hasn't broken yet?  Hmm.  Commercial break...

You'd think with all the excitement, she'd pop!

I think she's faking pregnancy to mask a serious overeating problem.

A good day to be an M's fan...
...I think everyone involved showed a lot of class and the team really worked hard for this victory.  Do we owe Grover some thanks for sticking by Weaver and some other vets that are playing well now?  I think so!

I just made an account yesterday
and then this happens? Maybe I'll cancel my account and he'll change his mind. I was personally rooting for Bavasi to go and Grover to stay. It's not like (besides Girardi (the new new york HC) any of the coaches that are available don't have huge character issues. This is a sad day, and I can only hope that the Mariners can get somebody young so that we may enjoy a coach as well as the team over the years.
Sheesh!

p.s.
I'm already voting on Martinez being the new head coach.
Sheesh!

This is a glorious day for Fire Hargrove crowd!
My birthday isn't for 11 days, but Mike just gave me my present early!

I'm just stunned. STUNNED!

Actually Jason Churchill wins.
He called July 9th a while back, I'll see if I can find the article.

For the final time.

Goodbye Mike. You fucking sucked for the first two seasons. But I will admit, you were better this year. You had improved. You were nearing the realm of "manager doesn't effect the team either way". And your bullpen management was fantastic.

Goodbye Mike. I wish you luck.

KC
had to have one representative. I guess he sucks the least.

by apalach007 on Jul 1, 2007 5:11 PM PDT up reply actions

I would've picked Teahen
or Soria.
No, sir, they're saying Boo-vasi.

by Mariner John on Jul 1, 2007 5:17 PM PDT up reply actions

Naw
It's not every year that KC has an actual quality starter.  I'd have picked Gil too.

by Gomez on Jul 1, 2007 5:23 PM PDT up reply actions

John Buck...
Should represent KC.  Leading C in HRs.  Then again he's platooning on the Royals for some unexplainable reason.

by SethGrandpa on Jul 1, 2007 5:38 PM PDT up reply actions

Only Ranger
Who would you have picked, given the composition of the rest of the team?

by Gomez on Jul 1, 2007 5:25 PM PDT up reply actions

Sosa?
Kinda surprised it wasn't him.
No, sir, they're saying Boo-vasi.

by Mariner John on Jul 1, 2007 5:30 PM PDT up reply actions

I would have given it to Teixeira
even though he's on the DL. Just to give them a representative and replace him with somebody else.

No way Michael Young is an All Star.

by Happybelly on Jul 1, 2007 5:33 PM PDT up reply actions

Since May 22nd
no team's won more games than the Mariners.

by Gomez on Jul 1, 2007 5:30 PM PDT reply actions

OT
but I like how the BBTN crew calls this lineup "scrappy". I didn't know that applied to a lineup with one white person normally.
No, sir, they're saying Boo-vasi.

by Mariner John on Jul 1, 2007 5:32 PM PDT reply actions

Ben Broussard!
Occasionally Jamie Burke!

by Gomez on Jul 1, 2007 5:39 PM PDT up reply actions

One whitey?
Sexson & Brousard

plus

Willie & Burke a lot

by SethGrandpa on Jul 1, 2007 5:40 PM PDT up reply actions

Our normal lineup is
Ichiro
Vidro
Ibanez
Sexson
Guillen
Johjima
Beltre
Lopez
Betancourt

Or some combination of that. Yes, 3 of 4 bench players are white but I was referring to the regular lineup.

No, sir, they're saying Boo-vasi.

It's such a glorious day outside.
I have this huge smile on my face that I don't think is ever going away.

My god it's a great day to be a Mariners fan.

Now that Hargroves leaving
how long til his son gets cut from the minors?

by Brian Floyd on Jul 1, 2007 6:04 PM PDT reply actions

I also thought of that
He'll last the season in High A and then they'll send him away.

by Gomez on Jul 1, 2007 6:12 PM PDT up reply actions

Jones 2-5, HR, 3 RBI (.315)
Can we please finally add him to the roster?

by Trent on Jul 1, 2007 6:13 PM PDT reply actions

If Hargrove was the biggest hurdle
Methinks it's only a matter of time, and not just in the vague, general, metaphorical sense.

by Gomez on Jul 1, 2007 6:19 PM PDT up reply actions

Also
No Vidro today.  Hm.

by Gomez on Jul 1, 2007 6:19 PM PDT up reply actions

No Vidro is only significant if...
He's out the next couple days too.  Grover still made today's lineup.

by SethGrandpa on Jul 1, 2007 6:31 PM PDT up reply actions

Weak AAA pitching
against a guy with 6+ ERA in AAA. I'm not impressed.

by Susheel Ramasahayam on Jul 1, 2007 7:39 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah
He should have gone 5-5 with 6 HR.  He sucks.

by patsfan on Jul 1, 2007 7:51 PM PDT up reply actions

Well Mike now you have more time for Tea
Shop smart......Shop s-mart...... YOU GOT THAT!!!!

by Scruffy Lefty on Jul 1, 2007 6:52 PM PDT reply actions

Damn
I'm going to have to figure out how you guys do that. Above is a link to the AL All Star jersey. I had customized it for Putz, but that apparrently doesn't show up on the link.

by Faux on Jul 1, 2007 7:03 PM PDT up reply actions

And the Reds just fired their manager.

Still a game back
Tigers win a shutout against the Twins. Oh well, we get to face the Royals, and they get to face the Indians. I'm rooting for a split. I hope they beat the crap out of eachother for the rest of the season, to keep the WC nice and easy.

by Faux on Jul 1, 2007 7:19 PM PDT reply actions

Hargrove>Melvin, at least.
Maybe not in Managerial skill (Maybe though, who knows), but he's a much more interesting character and has weird southern sayings.

by BrettJMiller on Jul 1, 2007 10:23 PM PDT reply actions

Ichiro on Hargrove
"At the beginning, there were complications between us. Since then, I've honestly expressed my feelings to him. He listened to them honorably and very gentleman-like. That's a strong memory I'll have."
