Star-divide

Once again (and hopefully for the last time) the electric company's shutting our power off tomorrow as they replace some cable in the neighborhood, so I have to throw this thread up crazy early. Why San Diego Gas & Electric isn't very accommodating to the desires of a local Seattle Mariners blogger I can't be sure, but they aren't, and this is my burden. I hate having to miss important games.

Anyway, the pitching matchup sucks, but if Feierabend's able to make a few balls die at the track instead of soar over it, that might be enough to keep it interesting. Our offense is every bit as good as theirs, and while the good bits of our bullpen are exhausted, we've won slugfests before. Go in with low but legitimate hopes. Stranger things have happened.

LET'S GO MARINERS!!

I see this asian girl with a Yankees shirt. I think to myself as I often do when I see something like this, "What a stupid bitch".
Anyways, I'm waiting for my food to come, and shes in front of me, and I look at her ass (just because shes a dumb Yankee-loving whore doesn't mean she cant have a nice ass), and she is wearing Seattle Mariner jeans. First of all, I didn't know they made M's jeans (they had the logo kind of embossed, i guess, into the denim right below the beltline and says Mariners next to it), and second of all, why would you desecrate the name of our sacred organization with the filth and blasphemy of an adjacent display of Yankee bandwagonism.  I can only surmise that, being asian, she is only an M's fan because of Ichiro, in which case, we don't need her type.

I've been pretty upset about this for the past hour or so, thanks all for reading my rant.

I personally don't really like any of the "baseball fashion" stuff, or pink jerseys or caps, or any of that crap, but I have been led to believe that I am in the minority.

Honestly, I don't think the Alyssa stuff is that bad, some of it's even kind of cute, but I get weirded out by the idea of people wearing baseball logos as a fashion statement.  Though I guess I don't know how that's all that different from bandwagon fans in general anyway.

by Deanna on Jun 27, 2007 2:04 PM PDT up reply actions

well then I suppose I'm in the minority too...
I hate going to the mariner store and seeing the 40 different "stylish" hat choices they have with like plaid designs and all sorts of weird stuff.  I like the throwbacks, in fact I'm wearing the late 80's blue and gold 'S' logo hat right now, but I don't know why they make them in all these different colors and patterns and everything.
I guess it brings in a different demographic, and thats good for business, but I hate seeing people wearing this garbage on the streets

I love Shiggy, I was just thinking about that the other day, he's still one of my favorite players ever.

by Deanna on Jun 27, 2007 2:01 PM PDT up reply actions

I remember the Sele beanball game
Shiggy started the clearing-benches by plunking one of their guys, immediately got tossed and he walked off the field like, 'Okay then.'  After the game, they asked him about it and he basically said, hey, I just throw pitches and when the umpires tell me I can't pitch, I can't pitch... which is about the nicest way to say 'hey, fuck that guy' as possible.

No remorse!  Shiggy is awesome.

by Gomez on Jun 27, 2007 2:11 PM PDT up reply actions

Errr
I was at that game.  Shiggy didn't start the brawl when he plunked Grady Sizemore, the brawl happened when Kevin Millwood retaliated by plunking Betancourt to lead off the NEXT inning.

There was a brawl another time with the Angels, I think, where Shiggy was just bouncing around pretending to get involved, just sort of making funny fist motions at guys.  That was a lot sillier.

but the server wouldn't let it go through.

Anyway, Vidro needs a pinch runner. Now. I refuse to accept keeping him on first base and then seeing a double play.

by manifestus on Jun 27, 2007 4:57 PM PDT reply actions

All they had to do
was have Ichiro take off with one out and have Richie lay down a bunt.

Good lord.

by Gomez on Jun 27, 2007 4:57 PM PDT reply actions

Mariners say fuck you fans
put the worst players on the team in the meat of the order so when it really counts....they suck balls.

Deserve to lose this one..somehow when they fuck it up like that it feels like they had it coming...Davis will end it here soon I'm sure

by kentroyals5 on Jun 27, 2007 4:58 PM PDT reply actions

Honestly
They don't really have many other options here. Except RRS, but he's no better than Davis.

by TheMarinator on Jun 27, 2007 4:59 PM PDT up reply actions

That's kind of Hargrove's fault
I don't know why people are saying his bullpen management is good. He did the same shit last year that he's doing this year. Sherrill could've gone at least one more inning after getting Ortiz and Manny out. Morrow should've only gone one. Putz could go two with a day off tomorrow.

Jason Davis is just the icing on Hargrove's failure cake.

by JLC on Jun 27, 2007 5:02 PM PDT up reply actions

Well
You can't really blame Hargrove for trying to win it in 9.

by TheMarinator on Jun 27, 2007 5:03 PM PDT up reply actions

Richie can't bunt. Have you ever seen him try?

yeah but with how Richie's been swingin the bat
lately, theres no way they're gonna PH Boom Boom for him... its impractical even if Richie were still below the Mendoza line

by thenatural on Jun 27, 2007 5:02 PM PDT up reply actions

I know Adrian's attempts have jaded us
but it's simple.
  1.  Wait for pitch
  2.  Extend bat
  3.  Shift bat so bat hits top half of ball.
  4.  See what happens.
