Once again (and hopefully for the last time) the electric company's shutting our power off tomorrow as they replace some cable in the neighborhood, so I have to throw this thread up crazy early. Why San Diego Gas & Electric isn't very accommodating to the desires of a local Seattle Mariners blogger I can't be sure, but they aren't, and this is my burden. I hate having to miss important games.

Anyway, the pitching matchup sucks, but if Feierabend's able to make a few balls die at the track instead of soar over it, that might be enough to keep it interesting. Our offense is every bit as good as theirs, and while the good bits of our bullpen are exhausted, we've won slugfests before. Go in with low but legitimate hopes. Stranger things have happened.

LET'S GO MARINERS!!

We do not need Vidro in there again, especially against Dice-K. If Ibanez is back, I wouldn't mind having him in the 3rd hole and Joh in the 4th. Either way, get the damn guy with success against Matsuzaka in the middle of the lineup.

Adam Jones needs to be hitting 2nd or 3rd. Really, if everyone in the lineup is doing what they are capable of, any order grover throws out there should put up a min. 4 runs any given night. Minus Vidro of course.

so I'm getting lunch at my student union today...
I see this asian girl with a Yankees shirt. I think to myself as I often do when I see something like this, "What a stupid bitch".
Anyways, I'm waiting for my food to come, and shes in front of me, and I look at her ass (just because shes a dumb Yankee-loving whore doesn't mean she cant have a nice ass), and she is wearing Seattle Mariner jeans. First of all, I didn't know they made M's jeans (they had the logo kind of embossed, i guess, into the denim right below the beltline and says Mariners next to it), and second of all, why would you desecrate the name of our sacred organization with the filth and blasphemy of an adjacent display of Yankee bandwagonism.  I can only surmise that, being asian, she is only an M's fan because of Ichiro, in which case, we don't need her type.

I've been pretty upset about this for the past hour or so, thanks all for reading my rant.

I dunno
I personally don't really like any of the "baseball fashion" stuff, or pink jerseys or caps, or any of that crap, but I have been led to believe that I am in the minority.

Honestly, I don't think the Alyssa stuff is that bad, some of it's even kind of cute, but I get weirded out by the idea of people wearing baseball logos as a fashion statement.  Though I guess I don't know how that's all that different from bandwagon fans in general anyway.

by Deanna on Jun 27, 2007 2:04 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

well then I suppose I'm in the minority too...
I hate going to the mariner store and seeing the 40 different "stylish" hat choices they have with like plaid designs and all sorts of weird stuff.  I like the throwbacks, in fact I'm wearing the late 80's blue and gold 'S' logo hat right now, but I don't know why they make them in all these different colors and patterns and everything.
I guess it brings in a different demographic, and thats good for business, but I hate seeing people wearing this garbage on the streets

yeah, he's been a commentator for NHK since he retired I think.  Did he get to throw out the first pitch today too?  (I think they made a big deal out of doing that one of the other times he was back broadcasting)

by Deanna on Jun 27, 2007 2:01 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I remember the Sele beanball game
Shiggy started the clearing-benches by plunking one of their guys, immediately got tossed and he walked off the field like, 'Okay then.'  After the game, they asked him about it and he basically said, hey, I just throw pitches and when the umpires tell me I can't pitch, I can't pitch... which is about the nicest way to say 'hey, fuck that guy' as possible.

No remorse!  Shiggy is awesome.

by Gomez on Jun 27, 2007 2:11 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Errr
I was at that game.  Shiggy didn't start the brawl when he plunked Grady Sizemore, the brawl happened when Kevin Millwood retaliated by plunking Betancourt to lead off the NEXT inning.

There was a brawl another time with the Angels, I think, where Shiggy was just bouncing around pretending to get involved, just sort of making funny fist motions at guys.  That was a lot sillier.

They whine to much over there.  Especially about Sports.  The Sox have been competitive for 7 straight years and won a world series.  The Patriots have been competitive for years and have won three superbowls.  And in the NBA all they can do is be offended they don't get the #1 pick in the draft even though they have the most successful franchise in NBA history despite recent suckage.  Boston needs to shut the fuck up.
