Lookout Landing night

I'll put up some of my dad's pictures later.

For those of you that went, wow, that was amazing.  We have to do that more often, it was absolutely wonderful.  You guys are a blast.  For those of you that didn't come tonight, you really ought to come next time, it's a blast.  It was awesome talking to all you guys, and Paul, I really hope to see your photos soon.  My dad also enjoyed all you guys too, for what it's worth.

Also...THE KING IS BACK!

Just got home.
Man that is the most fun I have EVER had at a baseball game. Freaking awesome! We certainly have to do this at least once more before the season ends.

It was great meeting all you guys and being able to put some faces with some of these names.

Well, here's a couple...
I grabbed my Mac on my way out of town, and transfered all the files from the cards onto the hard drive.  MUCH faster than trying to do it at home.  Heh.  I started the first transfer in my car as I was leaving my parking spot, then I started the second transfer in the McDonalds parking lot (as I grabbed a very quick bite, since I didn't eat dinner), and then as I went down 320th to avoid the road construction traffic on I-5, I started the last transfer.

While I was driving.

Heh.  Don't try that at home, kids.

So, here's a couple from tonight.  First -- the return of Felix.  Here's his first pitch (click for a full-sized view):

And here's one of the group shots I took late in the game.  I even included Jeff, who was definitely (as you can tell) there in spirit:

Even though I bugged out for three innings or so (to go gab w/GS52 and then shoot pictures from the 100 level), and I wasn't expecting to see my brother there (taking away further time from my interaction w/the group), I definitely enjoyed hanging out with y'all tonight, too.

I just wish it wasn't such a damned hoof up to Seattle from Oly.  And, that I could get away by myself a little more often...

More pictures, of course, will show up shortly.  And, for those of you who saw it, I'd also like to get your opinion on the Safeco poster I brought.

And I'm still awaiting the resolution of the English Mariner mystery...

Why the heck...
...do you think I like being BEHIND the camera.

Yeah.

Notice that I didn't publish the one with me in it (that my bro took).

Heh.

Actually, Goose, it's not a bad shot of ya...

that Felix shot
Is Awesome. Great color. Can you blow that up for desktop size?

by phil333 on May 16, 2007 3:30 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Heh.
Actually almost forgot to shrink it down for web viewing.  I published the full-sized version, and then realized I needed to shrink it.

So, yeah, here's the full-size version.  I need to clean out the line going down the screen, that happens to show up on all of my pictures.  It's my sensor -- my camera's actually broken, but I still continue to use it anyway.

Hello, Richie? Stop sucking. kthxbye!

Alright, lets see if I can remember here...
I'm the douche with my arms folded on Jeff's right. Etowncoug would be on the other side of Jeff, Bretticus is behind me, next to him are Gomez and then of course Deanna. Behind Deanna I think is Robert, next to him I think is Katal followed by his girlfriend(who introduced herself to us as "chopped liver), and then Conor Glassey(MikeCameronfan) next to her rounding out the shot. And of course, Paul behind the camera.

We should do an east coast one as well
Mariners @ Yankee Stadium in early September, @ Baltimore in early August. One of those could be fun.

I'll be in NYC post July
so that could work for me.

I wish I wasn't so shy
and/or young.

Sounds like fun.

How good are you at answering direct questions, on a scale of 1 to 10? I'd say I'm very good.

Yeah, I'm glad it worked out
I definitely think we should do another one, though it's a tossup between trying another weekday (where we can get the cheap BECU tickets and it's less likely to be crowded) or do a weekend (so that it's less of a pain for people who have a long drive to Safeco to get there).  Like I said, if worse comes to worst we'll just force Graham to be a guest of honor at the next one :)

Oh, and we should sit on the 3rd base side instead next time, closer to the real Lookout Landing.  The glare from the sun for the first few innings kind of sucked.  I'd forgotten about that aspect of sitting in the 320ish area.

I kind of liked it...
the view's nice.   It was a bit bright, but it didn't seem overpowering.

I'd never sat there before...that's a hell of a deal on those BECU nights.

One of my favorites parts of that game
was the three Angel fans sitting next to us. By the time it was about 8-3 we hear "Maybe we jumped on the wrong bandwagon, I think we should become Mariners fans."

Those fans were hilarious
I liked the Latin Angels fan that ended up sitting next to Brett.  He was not very happy, but Brett was a pretty good sport talking with him.

Good times
It was definitely cool seeing everyone. I can't wait for the next one.

We should start a fundraiser for you.
If everyone pitches in $10, we can get you here, probably.

June 8,9,10, or whenever the King pitches?

wish i would have known where you were...
I was down in the club seats...id have come up at least to meet you all.

Oh well maybe another time.

This was freaking AWESOME
I'm on the bandwagon that we've gotta do it again.  I enjoyed meeting everyone and it'd be great to see everyone again, plus meet others who couldn't make it the first time.

I agree that the Lookout Landing side is as good as any to get tickets if/when we do it again.  Aside from being out of the glare, the section's open and we won't have to worry if we're taking anyone's seats: funny thing as a couple of us had to move down a row when the actual owners of the seats showed up.  Also, Deanna thought we were in row 15... and then later found out the row BELOW us was actually row 15.  There probably wouldn't be any need to worry near the actual LL, which is usually pretty empty.

Also, I agree that the BECU nights are a great deal.  Once I'm done with school for the summer (3 weeks left in the quarter WOOOOOO), I think I'm gonna do every one until the end of the year, if not a bunch of other games.

by Gomez on May 16, 2007 9:30 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, that was a good deal.
The next one we do, should be one a similar night. Except maybe we should plan it all out a little bit farther in advance.

Pleeeeease be in the month of June.  I have that off before I have to go to Ashland for my next project.

a few pix of the game
My friend took these of the game, nothing super out-of-the-ordinary, but thought I would post them all the same.

Looking at that crew
If I had been there I'd have felt like a grandpa to all of you.... if this summer wasn't going to be as nuts as its going to be, I'd come down for a game, been about 4 years since my last M's game in person.

FWIW
if the rotation holds, I think Felix is scheduled to pitch the 26th of June against the Red Sox. That's also a Tuesday.

by Matthew on May 16, 2007 2:13 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Also
though a big group getogether is hard to plan, I don't know about others, but once I get back to Seattle, I plan on hitting up quite a bit of games, and since most games I go to alone anyways [no baseball friends in seattle :( ] so if people want to meet up in small groups, I'm down.

by Matthew on May 16, 2007 2:21 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, totally
What's the time range you're in Seattle?  Something like the rest of May until sometime in July?

I wish there was an easy way to coordinate a "hey, I'm going to the game, anyone want to come along?" sort of thing without taking up a ton of diaries.

Yeah
from Friday the 18th through the 28th or so in June. **ing work. I need to get my ass a job in Seattle.

I should clarify
18th of May ----> 28th of June
