Don't worry guys, Jeff Weaver won't be deterred by his awful start. If you thought he was so weak-willed that he'd try to fix the problems that came up over his first two starts, well, you've got another thing coming.
Of course, that dumbshit 86mph two-seamer isn't what got Weaver here. What got Weaver here was the success he had throwing 92mph heaters in the World Series. But what do I know? I'm just some guy. Weaver's a professional pitcher with a four-digit ERA.
Go Mariners.

My Prediction
Mariners get a hit in the second, no runs. Angels score two more. Weaver finally out.
9-0 heading into the seventh where the Mariners score 4. 11-4 heading into 8th, Mariners score 2.
11-6 heading into the 9th, Jose Guillen hits a grand slam. The next three batters are then struck out.
11-10.
Seems to be the trend, no?

This has to be Weaver's last start
... Right?
Alas

Yeah, pretty much
About the only positive about this is that every loss pushes Hargrove and Bavasi closer to the edge, and that's not even an unmitigated positive.

Here's the question
n/s
As much as I dislike the M's rotation (outside of Felix) it is not as bad as it's looked so far. I know a lot of people aren't happy with Batista but I think when it's all said and done he'll be a decent 4 starter. Weaver is bad but he's not 15 ERA bad, I honestly don't know what to make of the Ho. I'm not a big Washburn fan either, but he'd probably be the ace for the Nats.
Even in terms of money, I think we still be the Nats, but it's a hell of a lot closer with Felix out, lol.
n/s
He won't, but it would be cool.
If Weaver does well tonight
This just in from the pregame
Might as well let the backups play today
And, yet, there he his
Might as well just call it a forfeit, and just hop on the plane down to get an early arrival in Texas...

I wish Bavasi would hire me as manager already
I feel like
and they refuse to do it, because THEY didn't think of it.
n/s
I honestly think if we come out of this division road trip 0-7 he might be gone, it would just add to the doom and gloom of the 0-11 road trip last season.
Churchill wrote last night
That seems way too late for me. If he's still past May, I may not be surprised, but I will be disappointed.
yeah
In the end I doubt Bavasi would fire Hargrove in April. Late May or early June is probably more realistic.
What if they want to light a fire
Hargrove

I say
Sexson in left
Broussard in right
Guillen in Center
Ibanez at third
Beltre at short
Ballgame at DH
Ichiro on the mound.
At least it'd have entertainment value.

Finally awake!
I'm gonna put together the Minor League Wrap-Up now, and start my first installment of the WPA all-star voting deal for this year.
Something tells me this is going to be far more interesting than watching this ballgame.
no that wasn't a nice defensive play

Heh.
For Jeff Weaver, you can smell the booze.
Also, fuck you Richie, you giant.
Wither Carlos Garcia?
When Jose Guillen comes to the plate
Angels fan: "What does that say? Obo?"
Angels fan #2: "I don't know, I'm illiterate."
Rally Monkey: "GOD."
I'm sure that Hargrove will have an excuse
Did anyone see Raul's quotes in the paper today, trying to justify the team swinging at Colon's first and second pitches all night?
Any attitude?
Or are they acting like they dont care?
Im holding out hope that Hargrove turns into Sweet Lou and beats Willie with a baseball bat. Thatll teach em.
Slow curve in middle of plate.
Maybe I'll fly
Jeff Weaver is shining in the big leagues?
Is he throwing a 2-seamer?
What would it take for

Too bad he doesn't have a pitch that
Christ
Probably both
I don't know what's worse
Unless Felix is pitching
I did that

Is it just me?

ok
Difference between us and them.
When they get a triple in a 3-0 game, we play the infield in.
And
Weaver's throwing roughly 2:1 strikes...
Hillenbrand
I'll say this:
That is the only good thing I can say about him.
Weaver's a dumbass

Jeff, this post brought back a memory:
every bit as bad as Mild-mannered Guillen.
My friends dragged me to a comic short film festival a couple years back, and one of the short films was about this office drone who turned into the Incredible Hulk, green skin and all... except he didn't inherit any of the Hulk's powers, so he would turn green, but he was still such a wimp that he would try to tear off his clothes, and couldn't. It was kinda funny, but not... kinda like the Mariners.
ANYWAY, Minor League Wrap-Up will be posted in about 45 seconds.

If you said 6-8, give yourself a pat on the back. The 2006 team also started out 6-8.
Your current Mariners are 5-9, the worst start of any Mariner team this decade.
Break this whole fucking team up right now
This caught my eye
April 22, 2007
NEW YORK (AP) -- The NHL came down hard Sunday on Calgary, suspending goalie Jamie McLennan for five games and fining coach Jim Playfair $25,000 and the team $100,000 for actions late in Game 5 of the Flames' first-round series against the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday.
McLennan was given a match penalty for slashing Detroit's Johan Franzen in the midsection at 17:01 of the third period, one of four penalties the Flames were assessed for aggressive and illegal use of the stick (slashing or cross-checking) in the closing minutes of the Red Wings' 5-1 victory.
... Jamie McLennan is still playing?!
Great postgame interview
BTW Grover confirmed weaner will make his next start. (I mistyped Weaver but it's hilariously accurate so I'm leaving it)
