Ha
I thought I was the only one still up.

Man... I'm gonna have to make the tough decision on whether to stay home and watch the game, or go to physics. What to do, what to do...

Bring it on
Man this six months has dragged. Have been waiting for tonight for too long, it had better not disappoint!

Will be watching up in the wee small hours - if you're heading down there, give them a yell of encouragement from me.

Gowon the M's!

MarkE's M's games:
25/4/06 - M's 0 Tigers 2
14/4/07 - M's v Rangers
17/4/07 - M's v Twins

It's here!
Finally! Cmon Felix, just give me hope about this team for one series, hell one day.

Call it a feeling
I'm excited for this series. Even though I'm on the other side of the country, I can't wait to watch opening day at the Safe, just like I have tickets behind the visiting team dugout to heckle them all game.

LETS GO MARINERS!

Oh man
I'm absolutely stoked for this season to begin.

My first year with MLB.tv, so we'll see how that goes. As long as I get to see us play, I'm ecstatic.

I've missed game threads.

Looking down the lineups
gives me a great deal of hope. There's not a single batter I'd want to trade for the A's equivalent. Maybe, just maybe, Id take chavez over sexson. And at least today our starter should be better.

Can't we clone Felix? what was that nutball cult that claimed to have cloned humans?

by Mere Tantalisers on Apr 2, 2007 6:37 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

We have the best lineup in the West
Really. It's a little bizarre to think about, but it's true. When your worst hitters are Lopez, Betancourt, and Vidro, you're not doing too badly.

by Graham on Apr 2, 2007 7:12 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

i suss you're right.
Rangers always get pegged as the offensive powerhouse in the west, but you oculd put LAA into ameriquest and have them hit like the yankees, I suppose.
Who, by the way, have the most unlikely opening day starter in the majors outside of Gil Meche. Maybe even more unlikely considering the teams.

by Mere Tantalisers on Apr 2, 2007 7:35 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I'd probably take Piazza over Vidro
but thats just personal preference.  When it comes down to it, they are an ex-catcher and and ex-2B who are now DH.  Doesn't this seem wrong...

by Edgar for Pres on Apr 2, 2007 7:38 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I'm not talking about positions
in those terms, I would also take crosby over betancourt and yes, Piazza over Vidro. I'm talking about 1-9 in the lineup. And I would rather have Ibanez than Piazza.

by Mere Tantalisers on Apr 2, 2007 8:18 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Swisher
I would take Swisher.

WOOHOO
Six hours until gametime!  While I have class tonight, I may even skip class if the game remains interesting and just explain everything to my instructor on Wednesday.

The bad news for this year is that, due to my night classes (which were not an issue in '05 and '06), I probably won't be available for Mon-Tues-Wed-Thurs night games, until June.  I'll definitely be watching and hanging around here on the weekends, holidays and day games.  And if a professor cancels class or has an exam and lets me out early, I'll also be around.

But hell, I'm five classes from earning a Bachelor's in (something laughable) from UW, so cut me some slack.

Sadly, he seems to have aged like ten years in the last three years.  Poor guy.

by bluemax on Apr 2, 2007 10:48 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

from what I've read
they moved him to give BJ Upton a place to play.... he did have a bad year last year battling injuries.. and didn't have a good spring, sounded alot like they didn't have much patience with him.

by MfaninAlaska on Apr 2, 2007 11:10 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

The long short of it
He can't play defense and his offense is incredibly one dimensional (all or nothing who never walks). They felt that Upton and Wiggington were the better players at 2B and 1B and Gomes is the superior DH. He had no place to go and they wanted him to go to AAA to try to get his swing back.

Besides, he has a lame mustache.

Nook Logan just collided with the CF wall in the Nationals game and Meched up his ankle.
